It's partly Sinbad's fault too for spending the 80s and 90s dressed like a fucking genie. Ok, I know it was the fashion at the time but his big ass combined with those parachute pants (plus those colors), you couldn't help think of him as some sort of genie. Oh also, his stage name was Sinbad, which immediately made you think of that period and region that you associate with genies.

In 1996, two of the biggest NBA players in the world had starred in two different kid movies. Shaquille O’Neal played a 7’1” hip hop rapping genie in Disney’s Kazaam. Meanwhile, Michael Jordan played himself in a live action/animation crossover basketball sports comedy movie along with the Looney Tunes in Warner Brothers’ Space Jam. What a time to be alive.

For the record, there is footage of Sinbad as a genie floating around. It is in vhs tape-like quality. I believe it was part of a commercial or some sort of promotional thing but was not a movie, for sure.
