Kazakhstan is not as great as you think. To understand all situation in the country you should live there. Yes, for you our prices seems very cheap, but you actually don't know nothing about our average salary(on the TV average salary is 160k tg near 500 dollars, but in practice average salary is between 70-80k tg near 250 dollars). We are tired of lies by government, which still unchangeable for 30 years. Can you imagine 30 years with one old creaker? Also our country appears like free and democracy, but in real life we have no freedom of word. It's very sad when another countries think that we live good...

I am also in Kazakhstan now. Going from Almaty to Aktau, so touring south. Everyone says Astana is super expensive (and cold). So the rest is defenatly cheaper. I bought full bag of mostly fresh groceries for 4500 tenge, so about same amount as you. But if you make sure to buy cheap vegetables like марковка, кортошка, лук and капуста, (carrots, potatoes, onion and cabbage) it is really, really cheap. These are also the staples on the cooking and resturants. I can try translate the receipt for you, as I am learning russian, so a good little exercise :) Also I was surprised by Almaty, of how modern and convenient everything is, much like an european city, witch i would not expect from central Asia.

Next time you should go to Almaty and Karaganda. Astana is really the only big city the government puts a lot of money into. You'll be surprised to see the difference between Astana and Aktau. And it may seem cheap to you, but Astana is a very expensive city to live in. Should also add- that don't forget that on average a family of 3-4 people can survive on $1000 usd a month. So when you compare the income and prices, its not that cheap. But definitely a bonus for us foreigners.

Eyeeye Oh, hey buddy, yea maybe not everything was true but the larger cities of kazakhstan are actually quite developed and comfortable for foreigners who are used to a futuristic lifestyle. Almaty is developing at a very fast pace and is a beautiful city and some places there look like they could be dropped right into an American city (esintai mall, dostyk plaza, etc.). Astana is also a wonderful place with lots to offer, it's the capital after all.
@eyeeyeoh
@eyeeyeoh 6 жыл бұрын
Are you sure you understand what the word "futuristic" means? Facts that something in Kazakhstan is fully powered by solar or wind energy are lies. These venues that as you say are dropped from the US are built with concrete using formwork technology of ancient Rome, literally timbering made of wood.

Idïl not all "stans" are equal. Actually, for this exact comparison our government was thinking about changing Kazakstan to Kazakh Eli, because we do not want people to think that our country is dangerous. It is very different culturally, economically from Afganistan and Pakistan. You should visit if you're into discovering new cultures. Imo, there is no other place like Central Asia, because of its blend of nomadic, turkik, post-soviet, Muslim and modern influences.

They got a new President this week, the same guy who has been re-elected in every election since 1990. I`m sure as you travel west you will see more older Soviet era towns and villages. You can get 2L water for 20p in Tesco. Tin of beans 32p, pepper 50p each, frozen veg £1-2 a bag (depending what it is). 2.5kg potatoes £1.50, chicken breast £6 a KG, fresh broccoli 55p, 1kg carrots 60p ect. obviously more if you go for big brand stuff but on a budget you can get loads of food.

Gabriel Traveler countries like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are a dictators wet dream. The dictators have all used the surplus cash generated from the export of fossil fuels to build cities which kinda look like Disneyland. When they should have been investing in grass do It level infrastructure like health, food security, social security, education, employment generation, skill development to make the people employable these dictators have been on a spending spree to make their countries look like Dubai. no , I'm afraid you have been misinformed. our President Nursultan Nazarbayev is the best. In Uzbekistan and Turkmunistan citizens have a low quantity of life. in Kazakhstan we have better life than anywere. I was in South Korea , Turkey, Belorussia ,RUSSIA, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan ,China , Thailand, France , UK. And as a result I understand that in that 27 years of independence which we had our government have done a splendid work . our infrastructure is developing as it can our health national security education sector is more much better than another post soviet dictators countries. we have a lot of reforms which were passed by our government at the initiative of our President Nursultan Nazarbayev . aim of all reforms it's to improve KAzakkhstan citizens life. Not long ago our Parliament passed bill according to which we will have education in three languages (kazakh, russian, english), salary of our teachers growing up each 4-5 years for 25-30 %, we have new school (full granted to our citizens free) which have world's level standards, 2 years ago our President gave a big part of his power to Parliament . our justice in special economic centers going to be as English law in next 2-3 years. Kazakhstan is improving . Russia , Uzbekistan , Tajikistan are dictators countries , but not Kazakhstan. please just don't disseminate some misinformation .you are desecrating our countryю . please don't do like that in future . you can offend our nation. but in any case I respect yours opinion

Hello from Astana! Thank you for the video Nick! It is very important for us that foreingners show the country so that more people can learn about Kazakhstan. Astana is very young and modern city. Almaty is more authentic and cultural. Whole big country is different from place to place. Nature is outstanding and also diverse. And if you are a foreingner then everything is really supercheap. Prices are even cheaper in other cities. So everybody welcome to Kazakhstan! We are very hospitable=)

slowly707 you’re right dude, this country is so depressing, many people here are living below poverty line, the same time the corrupted government is living like Arab sheikhs, incredibly stupid and pitiful sight, but as a tourist you probably won’t notice it, until you live few months here, interact with locals more closely

I live in Kazakhstan and I visited lots of countires. I never felt depressed in Kazakhstan, unlike in other countries. I disagree with living below poverty line quote as its simply not true. People who live in villages and immigrants may fell in the low income bracket but vast majority of people live pretty comfortably. There is no shortage of work but socialist past made older generation less aware of economy and making money. Kazakhstan no way a perfect country, it has major problem, like the rest of the world.

Carpe Diem you either lying or you live in big city like Almaty or Astana, because majority of citizens indeed live in poor conditions. I was born and raised here, and I been in most cities, so I’m pretty aware about the topic. Even in above mentioned cities you can face large amount of poverty and inequality, just move a bit from downtown and you’ll see the real face of Nazarbayev regimen.
@MrApplehair
@MrApplehair 6 жыл бұрын
1990hennesy I don’t live in the big city and I’m no rich person. However, I didn’t see any “mass poverty” that you are talking about. Current economic turmoil indeed had a negative impact on people and in USD it seems even more bigger, however I don’t think people are in poverty. People may cry that their living conditions are bad, but that’s a world trend, we are not special in this case. I’m assure you, World has much much much worse places
