Proof you can play well, have great tone, be in tune, while playing in the extreme upper register mind you and still other trumpet player's egos force them to trash talk. This is good technique all day long, bravo!

Well it depends on what you're doing. If you're doing lead trumpet then it's pretty important. Plus range can help you play harder piece in jazz and classical but I do agree on keeping a nice and steady tone in the low register.

I've been playing for nearly 40 yrs since I was 9 and play lead trumpet in various uk bands I hate it when every number ends up being the wally on lead playing every number up the octave because they can. They should be used when required so as to wow people nice tone again guys!

Jillian, i have a cheap beginner trumpet and a knockoff 3c mouthpiece, and can hit double g (im aiming for double c), but my teacher has lent me a shilke 14a4a, which does make it easier, but i can do it on a 3c my parents cant afford a new trumpet for me so im getting a summer job so i can purchase a new $500 trumpet and my own mouthpieces

Great job overall guys! I am the kind of person who doesn't care how fast you can double tongue, or how many keys you can play a two octave pentatonic in. If your tone is good and register is solid all the way up to a G#6, then I consider you good in my book. And a side-note to all those talking about how it's the mouthpiece, it doesn't matter. Its in the air stream, and all a "lead" mouthpiece does is make the compression easier, it by no means "adds notes to your range" like the common mis-conceptualized theory proposes. Although it helps in the extreme register, there is still an enormous amount of skill required to crank out a G above high C.
