43:02 I wish I saw more appreciation for Haruka and Kiryu's relationship. In Yakuza 6, Kiryu describes Haruka as his only emotional support, and it's through subtle scenes like this one where the player can see it clearly. Haruka knows Kiryu inside and out, or enough to at least recognize when he's trying to hide his true feelings. He says such cold things like "I'm leaving because I'm tired of babysitting you," and Haruka is unfazed. She's confident in his love for her, and it's this fact that Kiryu is dependent on. He's the type of person who can't help but cover up his vulnerable side, so he relies on Haruka's intuition to see through the walls he's built. He can be honest about his emotions without actually exposing them when he's with her. And I'm not saying that Kiryu doesn't trust her enough to reveal his vulnerabilities. She is actually one of the very few people he allows himself to be vulnerable around, if not the _only person._ In Yakuza Kiwami, Haruka is the very first person he exposes his self-doubt to, when he admits Mizuki is dead. He lets guilt overwhelm him for a split second before Haruka's empathy grounds him once more. There's that, and the countless implications throughout the series that Kiryu's only true reason for living is Haruka... Let's also not forget that it wasn't Haruka's true intention to become an idol in the first place. She directly says that she would prefer staying with Kiryu in Okinawa. It's Kiryu who decides that Haruka should pursue an idol career (in addition to the orphanage receiving funds). She only relents because she knows she can't convince him to stay. -[SPOILER: Kiryu fails to recognize that Haruka's true dream is to live with her family in happiness. He insists on leaving, and this ultimately leads to Haruka's abrupt retirement. He fails to see that Haruka needs him as much as he needs her.]- Their relationship is beautiful. I just wanted to write out my appreciation.

I think the funniest part of Yakuza 5 is the taxi license: I mean come on, a driver license that wear glass, hat and a mask. No way a license like that can be accepted in the real world. But this is Yakuza, where everything is possible, right?

Wasn’t there a sub story in Kiwami 2 where Haruka had no interest in becoming an idol. So why did she become one? Veteran of the series please help me understand why
@holly90964 жыл бұрын
Mirei Park scouted Haruka a year prior to the events of Yakuza 5. Park saw Haruka's potential and convinced Kiryu to let Haruka become an idol. Park and her way with words forced Kiryu into an ultimatum: stay in Okinawa or leave, allowing Park to take Haruka under her wing and support the orphanage financially. Kiryu decided that it would be worth it to leave so that all of his kids' futures would be secured. It's important to note that it was almost entirely Kiryu who made the decision. Haruka kept telling Kiryu that she didn't want to be an idol if it meant being separated from him, and only backed down because she eventually realized that she couldn't change his mind. Haruka's true dream was to live happily with her family, but Kiryu thought it was best if he left so she can become successful in show business and that the orphanage would be financially secure. Haruka tried her best as an idol for the sake of Kiryu and the orphanage, but being only a child tossed into the ruthless idol industry, as well as having to pretend she never knew Kiryu took its toll.

@@goldpineapple2178 SPOILER: -Even better, if I remember correctly, Haruka in Kiwami 2 said something along the lines of "If you ever leave me behind, I'll find you myself. I'll go all the way to Kamurocho if I have to" during that mission with the talent agent. You look at the ending of Yakuza 5, and, well, she does exactly that- :') I love Haruka's character, too. One of the best aspects of the series is her relationship with Kiryu.

@@holly9096 I’ve seen all this hate around her from Yakuza 6, but I’ve never really understood that
@holly90964 жыл бұрын
@@goldpineapple2178 Most people who started hating Haruka's character in Yakuza 6 don't realize that most of her actions were things she picked up from Kiryu. Her character has been influenced by him heavily, both his good traits and his flaws. Separating herself from her loved ones to spare them from the consequences of her actions is one of the most notable. In Yakuza 6, she made some mistakes - that much can be said. However, it's important to remember that Kiryu had sheltered her up until Yakuza 5, letting her act as his emotional crutch and the secondary caretaker to the children at the orphanage. She was bound to the orphanage and Kiryu for most of her life. The only aspects of life itself that she experienced _without_ Kiryu were very painful, so it's only natural she would become lost in a life without him. Knowing this, I personally think the choices she made in Yakuza 6 weren't all that surprising. In fact, they were understandable. The Haruka haters seem to forget that she was written to be one of the most human characters in the series.
