Gensei-ryu can be impressive and Moto is very good at Sansai. But if the Shotokan people were going to adopt new kata for competition, they should have just included some Asai-ha forms. I get the politics, but objectively Hachimon (for example) is just as valid as Sansai.

I totally agree with you. It is not a fair competition with the shito ryu dance. Asai Katas at least 2 to 4 should be in here. I am thinking of Suishu and Senka. Hachimon why not.

You nailed it Bai Hai. I am JKS member and Asai ha forms will help. Today it is an unfair competition. I am thinking of Kata like Suishui, Meikyo Nidan, Kakyoku Shodan, Nidan, Sandan, Senka, Hachimon.

@@gmddmg Sorry, you're right it's a kata gensei ryu. I practice Shotokan and we are learning Sansai now that WKF has approved Sansai as a Shitei Kata
