I hear some people say UFC fighters today are better because they know more but every fight I've watched of sakaurba I don't see any different as far as fighting styles as I do in today's fighters. Sakaurba would be champion in today's UFC no doubt

They say true bro. UFC fighters today fights better because in 90’s and pride days mma meant “wrestler vs boxer, karate vs bjj, grappler vs boxer etc…” Specially this was just like that in 90’s ufc. Fedor, nogueira, shogun rua were the best fighters in 2000’s because they know something about all styles but even thought they were master only at 2 styles maybe 3 styles. But nowadays every fighter are masters at everystyle. Be sure even today’s average ufc fighters fights better than fedor. Even prime fedor has no change against Ngannou, Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier etc… Today’s ufc fighters fight so refined but i do not like that. They fight just like robots. Every fighter know everything. Pride was style vs style and more more more enjoyful than nowaday’s ufc.

He is an elite grappler but his striking would be average at MOST by today's standards. Assuming he fights 170 lbs, he would be a ranked fighter but by no means a champion, sorry.

Let's not forget Vitor Belfort. Moreover, in his fight with Sakuraba, Vitor was over the contracted weight. But Sakuraba beat him. And let me tell you a secret that only Japanese people know. Sakuraba doesn't doping. That's because he's a big drinker. He laughed in an interview and said, "I don't doping because I don't want to quit drinking."

@@jessediaz9051 There's been a lot of stuff said to give excuses why Jackson lost, no one is saying his physicality was not very impressive and; Jackson was fighting far from home against a big star. I'm sure that wasn't easy; he gave a great accounting of himself. I just prefer to focus on Sakuraba's toughness and technique getting him past Jackson that day.

Jackson's big mistake was at 7:05, trying to hit Sakuraba leaning on his left elbow -rendering it useless. Sakuraba made a quick move while pressing down to make sure Jackson was unable to use the left arm.

No its what saved him. He was POSTED on his left arm (forearm) 90 degree bend. He then mustered his strength to attempt a “pancake” when u big brother someone and use your arm to slam them, almost like shutting a door.
