The highlight of KBHK Channel 44 for me in the early/mid 80's was watching the Twilight Zone every weeknight. I'm still looking online for a glimpse of the bumper still image for it; it had the door of imagination on a brown background.

I remember in the 60s before we got cable we had to use a different tuner on the TV to get channels 44 and 36 (can't remember if KEMO Chanel 20 was on the other tuner) Thank you for posting these, it brings back memories.

KBHK became KBCW and is now KPYX, branded as "Pix Plus," the sister station of CBS owned and operated KPIX 5. It's back to being an independent station (despite being owned by Paramount/CBS) after stints with UPN and the CW.

44 no longer airs movies or cartoons. It still airs sitcom reruns, though. It's the main bay area channel for syndicated sitcom reruns with KTVU phasing them out.

I remember KBHK, Sgt. Sacto (Mike Cleary of KNBR) had a lunchtime show. and New Zoo Revue was on right at a time when I could appreciate Emmy Jo, lol.

Independent stations were the best back in the day. I miss KTXL 40 in Sacramento. Cap'n Mitch cartoons after school and Bob Wilkins horror movies.

I didn’t have a VCR that long ago; I actually rescued this tape from a dumpster, drove about an hour to get it after someone had posted online about it! Wasn’t a whole lot there but glad I saved them.

Why were the SF starions so slow to adopt stereo? I would think they would have been the earliest to adopt it; the graphics on SF stations were ahead of other big markets at the time (compare KGO at this time with its sister ABC O&Os. Big difference).
