Such a beautiful, romantic, happy yet heart breaking ending. I cried the whole show, and this episode had me bawling the whole time. This drama has a special place in my heart as one of the best, ( if not the best) historical drama i've ever seen. There was such a great balance of romance, angst, history and also some comic relief. Every actor breathed life into their role, and Park Min Young has always been my favorite Kdrama actress and this role she played was stellar and hands down surpasses her other roles. Yeon Woo Jin was a romantic, courageous and amazing Prince and I loved how multifaceted he was as Yeok. Woo Jin and Park Min Young's chemistry is for the ages and so subtle, yet powerful. They couldn't have chosen two better actors to portray the roles as Chae Kyung and Yeok. Last but not least Lee Dong Gun shined as the King. He was interesting, intense, crazy, jealous, paranoid, bloodthirsty, yet broken, insecure and love deprived. From the very first episode I was blown away by his character and I cried when he died because he realized he truly wasn't happy at all. I will never ever forget this beautiful gem of a drama and I hope that Park Min Young and Yeon Woo Jin work together in another drama.

The king (Yeok) is in bad health and about to pass on so Chae Gyung is granted special permission to visit him privately in the palace. When they see each other, they see their younger, happier, carefree selves in each other, almost as if they were never separated. Teen Chae Gyung asks when Yeok arrived and he asks if she waited a long time for him. She jokingly replies that she has always been waiting for him. They look at each other lovingly and adult Chae Gyung asks if she has aged a lot and Yeok says no. Chae Gyung asks if she has come too late but Yeok says no. She says that he has endured well over the years and he replies that knowing that she will always be waiting for him made it easier for him. Yeok lies on her knees and Chae Gyung says that with her by his side, he is finally home and can rest peacefully. He smiles and repeats that he is finally home. Finally, Chae Gyung tells him ,"I love you, my husband" three different ways, just like how she said it after they were married. Yeok presumably passes on peacefully after this, he and his wife reunited at last.

BEST SAEGUK DRAMA TO EVER EXIST. PERIOD. ♥️ It's heartbreaking to see Yeok and Chae Gyung separate for 38 years, yet I couldn't ask for a better finale, it was beautifully ended 😭♥️ Queen for Seven Days quickly became my all time favorite saeguk drama! It even beats Scarlet Heart for me Ottokee, just thinking about this drama still makes me cry 😭

In real life Jungjong never saw his 1st wife every again. Lady Shin outlived her husband and died during the reign of King Myeongjong, Jungjong's son by his 3rd wife Queen Munjeong. There was a story that Lady Shin would climb up to one of the peaks of Mount In'wangsan (west of Gyeongbokgung Palace) and hang up her red skirt on the trees, and daily Jungjong and the whole court saw it. Though the drama never followed history, once Lady Shin was deposed and kicked out of the palace, the coup leaders (headed by Park Won-jong, who actually held power until his death) pushed their daughters for marriage. Jungjong's 2nd wife Queen Janggyeong was the character of Myeong-hye (Go Bo-gyeol; who was really Park Won-jong's niece), who bore Jungjong's rightful legal heir (future King Injong, acted by Seulong in the drama "Fugitive of Joseon") but died within weeks due to post-partum complications. Historically Jang-geum was first noted in her occupation as female physician during Queen Janggyeong's royal labor. One of Jungjong's infamous concubines was Lady Park (in one of the scenes Park Won-jong's adopted daughter), who bore Jungjong's eldest son Prince Bokseong-gun. Actually, it was kind of funny because 16 years ago, there was a historical drama titled "Ladies of the Palace / Women of the World" where Do Ji-won (Yeok's mother Dowager Queen Jasun) played her most (in)famous role of Lady Park. Actually all of Do Ji-won's acting in the drama were almost similar.

I havent seen the last episode yet and i can't even understand what are they saying, but still I cried so hard seeing this last scene, their acting and chemistry are so perfect. We can say that was a sad ending but this drama delivered us a feeling that the true love can make pleople wait for so long for their one love and it can be this only way the happy ending. everyone hope for a love like Yeok and Chaekyung had.

Things that makes difficult for me to move on from this sageuk kdrama: 1. Prince Lee Yeok's realistically character, the way he respects and cares for his women never fails to make me fall for him (at the end this makes my standards for men becomes more higher, lol), 2. Yeon Woo Jin's skills in playing the character of Lee Yeok was really good, all of his emotions really radiate perfectly thru the body language of his eyes and lips, (not to mention Min Young since she is indeed a great actress), 3. Woo Jin and Min Young's chemistry was solid and perfect. 😢😢

*No.* Jungjong was a weak king all throughout. Jungjong's only achievements were political in-fighting, 2 or 3 political purges (like his half-brother), and Jang-geum. During the first years of his reign, Park Won-jong actually ruled, not Jungjong. Jungjong only assumed direct reign after Park Won-jong's death, but even then he couldn't show his royal power and act as he deemed fit because most of the senior positions in his cabinet were filled with most of the coup leaders. Many times sympathetic ministers petitioned for Lady Shin's reinstatement, but all failed, and with reason actually. There was no precedent then of a living ex-Queen being reinstated but then what would happen to the sitting Queen.

Skepnic if you watched the show the kids part was a *DREAM SEQUENCE* and it segued afterwards to a timeskip of Jungjong reading Lady Shin's letter congratulating him on the birth of a son (either his firstborn Prince Bokseong-_gun_ or the legal heir the future Injong) Queen Dan'gyeong & Jungjong had NO ISSUE. Period. Which was a strange thing considering historically they had been married for less than 10 years without any trouble.

The scene is based on an entry in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, during King Jungjong's final days. The entry states, *There is a rumor circulating that Deposed Queen Shin* (Queen Dan'gyeong, who wouldn't be posthumously reinstated as Queen Consort until King Yeongjo's reign) *was seen outside the palace.* (though not outright written, for health reasons Jungjong was residing in one of the halls of Changgyeonggung Palace, one of then 2 side palaces which were like royal rest houses since the backdrop was nature) Then the next entry reported, *His Majesty has died.*
