Same thoughts with the majority of comments here. How can they keep on laughing and telling that it's okay the fact that the child is really annoyed because of his father's act . A father will not do things like that to grade school son . That father had a serious psychological issue and they had to save that smart child against abuses .

At what point does it become illegal in S.K to touch a child in that way even if it's your own child? Do children have any protection from the law and social services? Are the SKs embarassed to entertain the thought that parents would do that to their own children? It happens unfortunately and should not be ignored or brushed aside.
@anisatikah409010 жыл бұрын
if we talking about South Korea's law, we shouldn't questioning it because it sucks too much. Bullies that cause a student commit suicide, only jailed for 1 year + , a man beat up his wife and he only get fined for $7000, Kim Hyun Joong beat his girlfriend didn't get any punishment but Ladies' Code manager who was forced to drive fast due to their heavy schedule (due to company) and got 2 years. You have money, you have backup and you can save your ass. Child didn't get much protection too in S.Korea.

Culture or not, if the son hates it, the father should stop. Like seriously, the son feels so uncomfortable and yet his father keep touching it? Oh my.
@InLKdream10 жыл бұрын
Those claiming its culture in Korea with regards to the second concern and calling those of us screaming child abuse fools, you need to look in the mirror because there's where you'll find the fool. The problem isn't that he touches his son in his private parts, it's that his son is fully aware enough and has asked him to stop but the dad is carrying on. If the son said nothing that's different I'm open minded enough to understand it's how certain cultures roll but you have to understand children mature differently age is literally just a number. Saying I'll stop at puberty doesn't cut it because children hit puberty at different ages. And take this boy, he's not hit puberty but he has become mentally aware perhaps earlier than kids his age and finds the whole thing uncomfortable, that's not his fault and a parent no matter their traditions or culture should be understanding and adhere to his child's requests. That's why I feel this is abuse.

Honestly in the second concern the guy judge agreed that it was a concern because he could imagine how it felt (as a boy), the girl judges should think if it was themselves being touched in private places by their own mom... I think that would have changed their minds

Wow wow wow..that second story though! The fact that when they asked why he does it and he said "you know" and they agreed wtf is that?! I know they're comfortable with exposing themselves to other people (public bath) but that's taking it a bit far, especially because the boy feels ashamed by it. Some of them wonder why they can't get any justice for crimes related to sexual abuse and here's a great example why, that's nothing to laugh about or feel comfortable with..I'm glad the boy is smart and outspoken enough to at least acknowledge and say it's wrong.

I know that this sounds really bad, but they mentioned that one of the mc's also have a son... It's common for parents/grandparents to do the same thing (albeit at younger ages) to their sons, so there's a high possibility that "you know" meant that the mc is doing it too. I'm actually willing to bet that a lot of the grown men in the audience had experienced it as an infant as well.

First concern: Sorry, I was really distracted by the guy who sent in the concern. He's really handsome, but what was the concern about? Sidenote here, when the two guys were "talking" in their baby speak, I could not help but say "awww~" because I thought it was cute! Second: WTF just happened here? Firstly, this is one smart kid they got there and they should listen to him. They just sat there and laughed and talked down to him like it wasn't serious. Secondly, the son should just call the police! I don't care about how long Korean parents/grandparents do that, but I'm guessing he's around 9-11 years old in 6 grade? He's too old for that already, the dad is so frustrating, and words cannot even. God forbid it was a girl that sent that concern in, would they do the same thing? Protect your children, not molest and hurt them. It was an even bigger problem when he said that his dad even does it in public. And 66 votes? Come on, Korea, don't do this to the kid. Third: Even though I don't understand how this is a bigger concern than the child's concern, I will say that she does have quite the stubborn brother. Fourth. No, just no. Not a concern and I will pretend like this didn't even happen.

The fact that he stares when he's peeing it's just too much who does that???. The dad is creepy and I think he need profesional help because that's not normal, even if the boy is cute ( he really is :3) you can pinch his cheeks or something but touching him in his male parts it's weird and disgusting and creepy and Sorry but to me it's sexual abuse. "so cute! that's why he touches it more. you make him want to do it." i'm sorry, what??? serious question: does anyone know when does this start becoming child molestation in Korea? or is it always socially acceptable simply because he's his father? i'm only asking because i'm not familiar with South Korean culture in that sense. The second concern was so unsettling. I honestly cannot believe they brushed off the issue of a child being SEXUALLY HARASSED by his own father. AND one MC tried to justify it by saying he's cute? WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL! I get that their are cultural differences but I'm certain some Koreans out their would find it slightly sickening as much as the foreigners....
@erisedeye10 жыл бұрын
The boy in the second concern was obviously disturbed with having his privates constantly touched by his own father. It doesn't matter if it's a normal thing to do in South Korea, if the boy feels uncomfortable, the father should stop. He even did the same to his daughters! That's not right, and the excuses that he's cute and lovable and his father has a right to touch him because that's his son are beyond ridiculous. He may be a child but, but he knows it's not right for his father to touch him like that. This kind of behavior might bring some repressed emotions or even physiological issues in the future. It's a shame that even when he brings his concern onto a national broadcast, it isn't taken seriously.

@minnyjee10 жыл бұрын
Honestly, being raised with Korean parents I understand a lot of Korean culture and odd things but I agree that the second concern was not comfortable to me. Not only the fact that the father targeted his son's private parts but the fact that the show made everything the boy said seem like a joke and not taking him seriously thinking he's "just a child" that doesn't know any better. Playing around and touching (targeting) his private parts specifically (awkwardly and uncomfortably) are two different things.

In Korea it's fairly common for parents and grandparents to touch a young boy's... you know... I think up until mid-elementary? Maybe grade 1 or 2 at the latest? I'm not trying to say what's wrong and what's right, but I'm just saying there is a reason why the audience (and the authorities!) don't treat the 2nd concern as seriously as many other countries would. That being said, I personally as a Korean find it really creepy o.o ***EDIT*: Okay, I'm getting pretty sick of people trying to argue with me on this comment even though I made it over a year ago. So here goes. I thought that I've made it pretty clear that *I'm not trying to justify what the father did*, I'm trying to explain why the hosts and the guests and the audience don't react as severely as you would expect. If you are trying to argue with me that what the father was doing was wrong, then by all means go ahead and argue with someone who already agrees with you. Being a second generation Korean immigrant, I have had a close friend (also a 2nd gen Korean) experience this firsthand as a child and be scarred by it due to cultural misinterpretation so please do not think that I am trying to diminish the severity of this issue. *I am simply trying to clarify the cultural context of this episode.* And please do not go crazy and demonize all Koreans for it, because the fact that this concern even made it onto the show makes it clear that this isn't a total non-issue and that it was considered serious enough to be discussed. In addition, that way of thinking is very old-fashioned and I'm fairly sure that newer generations are growing more opposed to it. Thank you.
@poppyorangeflower10 жыл бұрын
culture and customs aside... why would any father be interested enough in his son's, err, "growth" to want to constantly feel it up anyway? What kind of pleasure does he get from it? Is it okay for mothers to constantly want to touch her daughters' vagina?
@liltunwin10 жыл бұрын
Putting the cultural thing aside, reasoning is a natural part of being human. How can a father do such thing when his own son is asking him not to do it because it's uncomfortable (yet the father was creepily smiling the whole time)? The father can't even reason it out against the kid (except that he finds it cute because the son reacts in such way), yet continue to do so. That is no cultural (touching baby private parts vs touching a kid that already has a grasp of life is no longer the same case), it's an obsessive behavior.
@yeyewonsomething10 жыл бұрын
Petit Orenji liltunwin Like I said, I'm not trying to justify his actions or say that it's right, I'm simply trying to explain why everyone's reaction on the show is not what most people unfamiliar with the culture would expect it to be. I believe that most fathers (or Koreans in general) don't see it sexually as so many of us do, though it's definitely possible that this father in particular may see it that way. It's also common for Koreans to go to bathhouses together and go into the tubs naked with complete strangers (separated genders of course); I think in these kind of cases, Koreans just don't see it in a sexual way, so in their minds how could they consider this sexual abuse? And though I said that it's common for this to happen, this situation in particular is definitely out of the norm for it to continue for this long; there IS a reason why this concern appeared on the show, after all. And I'm just going to throw in this disclaimer again: I'm not trying to defend the father. I'm just trying to explain how something like this could happen and why it seems more acceptable to Koreans.
@liltunwin10 жыл бұрын
YeYe Won I know. I didn't even talk about culture. I'm talking about reason and argument that everyone should have (granted some are better than others).
@yeyewonsomething10 жыл бұрын
liltunwin I agree with you. ^^ I suppose I was more directing the comment towards Petit Orenji instead of you It's very true that the son is now self-aware and intelligent (seriously he was so smart! o.o) and if he is asking his father to stop, the father should DEFINITELY stop, especially because the son feels ashamed or uncomfortable. But I feel that this is a case where culture and upbringing triumphs over reason in their minds, not just because of what I've already mentioned, but also the "respect your elders" thing which i find in Korea often translates to "obey everything your elders do without question or get fired / get in trouble".

Alot of the counselors excuses Is that you're still "young"...mmm and they wonder why their suicide rates are so damn high.you can't even have a decent conversation with your own family much less strangers

The second concern was very disturbing, when the mom said that the child wanted to speak about his father even knowing that he would be ridiculed at school, it makes you think how bad the situation must be for the child and what kind of behavior does the father inflict on the child that makes him so uncomfortable? because the kid mentioned that his father even touched him when he was sleeping, that to me sounds like child abuse and I know that Korea has a different culture, but this one just seemed off. The father has to know that doing this to a 6th grader is not good for his psyche, I mean the child could grow up with many complexes because of what his father is doing. I think that KBS should have investigated this concern a lot more. The kid is reasoning through his father's behavior, but he knows that it is not okay, I mean throughout the whole program he is explaining that it is, well NOT normal for a father to do that to his child. I hate to think of the worst but sometimes you can't help it, I really feel bad for the kid and I hope that the father stops his behavior (even if it wasn't ill -intended) for the child's sake. And I hope that there is nothing else going on and that the child grows up well!

wtf? the second concern was obviously sexual harassment! they said that it's their culture so if the child was a female instead and she came to the show bec her pedo dad keeps on harassing her, will the audience and hosts and guests still laugh? who knows? the son could have felt sexually harassed by his dad so he thinks that the best way was to come on the show but instead of getting rescued or something they instead laugh it off.

The brother in the third concern was hilarious!

The son obviously doesn't want to be touched. That, alone, is against human rights. Plus, even if your his parent, he didn't want you to do it, so that harrasment.

that poor little boy. i hope he continues to tell his dad that he feels uncomfortable with his disgusting touching. i really don't understand how this is acceptable. "he does it to express his love," "it's because you're so cute" are inexcusable explanations and would not hold up in court. this is so clearly sexual abuse. the kid said no so many times! in any country or culture no still means no.

The 2nd concern made me sick... The boy should have called the police instead of writing to the show. The hosts and guests don't even see how much he's desperate. Poor boy.

If this was America, concern 2's father would have been arrested or something. That shouldn't be normal! That's sexual harassment and pedophilia! The boy is clearly distressed and all anyone can do is talk about how cute he is instead of taking him seriously.
@RitardxSJ10 жыл бұрын
KBS, this is probably going to be your most disliked episode of Hello Counselor in all of the show's history. You can't just brush off the little boy in the second concern like that. Yes, there are cultural differences and people like myself living outside of S.Korea may not understand all those differences - but culture is not necessarily right. History was also made by humans, so don't justify everything with tradition and culture.

When the first guy with the concern appeared ,all i said was "hot ,damn" lolol he was so cute! He looked a bit like andy from shinhwa xD anyhow im so upset about the 6th grader whos dad wont stop being a pervert. Saying stuff like its because hes so cute and loveable as an excuse is beyond wrong! I felt so bad for the kid, he must feel so weird and it affects psychologically ,when he grows up he would always have that memory in the back of his head making him feel terrible and disguested :/ plus i hated it when the elder sis said he jumps on the dad aswell ,HES A FREAKIN KID! He was being playful and that doesnt mean he wants to be touched there :/ ughhh
