I loved that the ribbons on the ceiling turned Yellow in the memories of the victims of the tragedy with water in the background referring to the tragedy and commemorating them and then the ribbons turned purple for BTS and ARMY. Finally turning white for peace. This performance was beautiful

This is by far the perfect cover of BTS's song "Spring Day." The number of words and feelings I have regarding the Sewol Ferry tragedy would fill a book. Song SoHee delivers the right amount of emotion and flavor to this song. We are now on 10 years since that heart-wrenching tragedy. A tragedy caused by the incompetence and pride of the government, captain, the ferry company, and coast guard. It was a tragic incident that I say with conviction... SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED!! Those students would've been in their early 20's today, in university, married, and achieving their pursued individual dreams. The people who have died continue to be stars in the sky. God, I'm crying thinking about their last minutes of life were like. Absolute turmoil. OH GOD, THE FAMILIES AND SURVIVORS!! 😔😭💔🎗

She’s a pansori and gugak singer so she sang it differently. :) another note for pansori is that it’s like one of the oldest way of telling stories to people. like during the old times. So it’s common for a pansori song to be about longing, an uprising or revolution. :) Anyway, if you research about sohee, she’s considered as a national treasure bc she started singing pansori at a very young age and she chose that career, even at school-til now!!! So basically her whole life is dedicated to pansori. :) you should watch her performances and interviews! She’s a gem! ❤️❤️❤️

@@tiarakusuma1132 yes, the song is known to be the tribute for the Sewol victims, as it's about longing and missing for the loved ones. What is so sad and emotional about this cover is that, if you understand the Korean language, it is improvised with added lyrics of "I miss you... Just wait a little bit... just wait for a few days...until I go there to meet you...I'll come to get you.. " which is heartbreaking to listen, if you've lost loved ones and longing for them

I've been thinking A girl only as old as Jungkook, with such an incredible voice, won a national competition at the age of 11, face no less pretty than that of an idol, instead of going to the normal, easier to be famous pop route, she chose to learn gugak and preserve her nation's heritage. How proud South Korea must be to have such a talented singer like her. Edit: I'm sorry for my ignorance. I've edited the genre from pansori to gugak. I assumed she was singing pansori because, in the interview section, BTS mentioned about pansori. In no way I assume that idol groups have it easier. I know idol trainees are practising very hard and even some didn't get to debut or debuted only for a short time. What I meant by famous was that pop genre (in this case k-pop group) usually has more fans both locally and internationally as supposed to other genres like k-hip-hop, k-band, or even traditional music. They appeared much more often on music shows, doing concert around the world, and usually deemed more 'sellable to the market' by agencies. Because of that, I respect her for taking the non-generic route and in a sense also preserve her nation's heritage. Hopes this clarifies my intention! Sorry if some wording isn't proper since English is my second language.

The route to be an idol is in no way simpler than the route she took. Idols don't have it easy in any way. She went this route because she wanted to and not to disparage idols. There are great talents in both arenas, they're just different genres.

@@Theoanno7 op was not saying that idols don't have it easy, just that they believed idols are more likely to be famous as opposed to a traditional pansori singer. I can definitely see where they are coming from as idol kpop music is much more widespread/global as opposed to pansori, which is probably known mostly in Korea or among people outside of Korea who are particularly interested in traditional Korean culture.

@@charlieko9527 I did read the post hence my response. To your point, the % of trainees who don't make it to debut, or who debut and still don't make it is way bigger than those who do. It's still the less glamorous choice. If anything, Miss Song choosing the less traveled route guaranteed her success since there is little to no competition.
