sleepingfairy exquisite totally agree. My mom tried pushing me to be an academic and it backfired when I was a kid. When my mom gave up and focused on my health instead, my grades went up and I found my own interest in education. When it’s forced it will feel like a chore. If kids self discover a subject they like in school, they will excel

@@Ladeliciadelinda Totally agree my grades were terrible to the point where I failed math in 7th grade because I simply didn't pay attention to the lessons nor did I do my homework. Would sleep as soon as I got home and wake up to eat dinner only to go to sleep again. When I reached high school I started to take things seriously as I realized I needed the grades if I wanted to get into a good college. My grades got better and developed a homework routine. I took time to learn the lessons and really made sure understand the info being taught.

Sleeping with your kids when they hit a certain age will make them super dependent. They won’t be able to sleep without their parents so it will be harder to make them sleep in their own rooms or cribs. These kids are developing their independence very well. It takes stress off when all of your kids can dress themselves. Can you imagine the struggle of getting 5 young children ready for school everyday?

I also agree with the mother, children needs guidance and develop good habits. If children make mistakes, it's the job of parents to teach them. If guidance means responsibility of doing your homework and doing your best to achieve good grades at school and doing chores. You reward the children if they get good grades, but if they don't then encourage them to do better even if it means getting them tutor to help them with a subjects they're not good at. Children needs guidance and positive guidance of responsibility. If you just let them be kids and enjoy whatever they wish and allow them to be just mediocre students without pushing them to do better, then they will grow up very spoiled and doomed to fail in society. Children needs some level of STRICT guidance or TOUGH LOVE sometimes to grow up balanced. Balanced Happy Childhood! Show them love, but also show them you demand their best effort. Not just ALL HAPPY CHILDHOOD without any repercussions.

Well i partly agreed with the husband and partly agreed with the wife on education part.... Its true that kids need to be kids, they need to play and have fun to build their social skill and soft skill instead of shaping their world as what adult do....let them shape their own world and give a guidance not the path, so that the kids will be more clear on what they want and what they should do.....simply said, let them experience everything before they choose what they really want.... But i also understand from the mom point of view, south korean is too competitive and judgemental on certain part, that make they push themselve too hard to survive the expectation of the social community...and unconciously push the mentality down to their kids because of the feeling of "you will be left out or left behind if you don't fulfill the expectation"....well its a bit most of asian's stuff/mentality/stereotyping mindset.....trust me, i live that life.... But it can be compromise and adjustable....just don't push the kids too hard with too much expectation because the higher the expectation is, the bigger the disappoinment if the expectation did not meet the perception..... That's why the rate of suicide is quite higher in asia, especially Japan and South Korea.....mostly because of depression that related to community or pressure from family...... Education is important, but its okay to be laid back sometime for healthy lifestyle and mindset.....and its important for a family to spend time together at least once a week to strengthen their bond.....workload is never end, money is never enough but time is rotten away if we not use it wise......

I do think that great balance with academics and 'kids should be kids' is great. You want your kids to have high grades but don't pressure them. I think what kids need is reassurance when it comes to academics but also, telling them how education will be helpful for them whether in schools or at home. After all, education is a continuous process. We learn by being curious and getting involved in the process. ((idk what i am talking abt ;;))
@ericashort23925 жыл бұрын
I think that they under estimate what kids can actually do if shown early. A 2 or 3yr. old child should be able to feed themselves...and kids can get up without an alarm if kept on a consistent schedule. I love the dads approach to parenting for the most part...I just wouldn't let them start failing in school. Good grades would be a must, but they do deserve to enjoy their childhood.

I was born and raised in New York and lived in New jersey and Philly with my dad for a while. I have alarms but I usually wake up automatically before it goes off, and I have several alarms. I walked from home to school by myself since elementary since I lived across the street from the school. I went to the stores by myself and did errands I didn't have the best grades ( I have always sucked at math) but u had friends and teachers who tutored me after school and during lunch to help. I loved riding bikes, playing basketball , exercise, playing on the swings and monkey bars along with running and occasionally playing Call of duty and GTA. Isn't it crazy how we expect women to go through childbirth, essentially give up their careers or put them on pause, and dedicate their lives to children, while also being okay with dads doing far less work? I get that someone's gotta bring the dough home but the mom looks exhausted.

Mic Jack imagine how privileged it is to be a men that your second horrific point of being a man is "having to open a door for a woman" 😂😂😂. A woman can't even walk alone at night without fear of being jumped, raped or killed but sure having to hold open a door is fuckin horrible 🙄

@nami36634 жыл бұрын
@Mic Jack If u refuse to read the rest of this just let me ask you one question. Look at your own mom. Would you rather be her or your dad? Like REALLY think about it, if you HAD to choose one to trade places with who would it be? Funny how most men say shit but all of them would 10000% choose to be a man again a next life but most women consider choosing being men if the social disparity continues to exist. Uhm none of the rest is even relevant to daily life and are extreme cases that dont apply to anyone anymore?? Have you or anyone you actually know of died cause of "women and children first"?? In modern days men go to war not thru any compulsion whatsoever to protect women but for their own reasons of increasing their masculinity and because they dont know what else to do after HS at least the military pays and you'll get respect. Ask any women in the military Ive known loads not only have a lot of them been victims of sexual misconduct by superior officer in the military but they've also complained about the mysoginistic nature of the military where they felt unwelcome bc men made military culture for themselves. So dont complain about men going off the war for women when women continue to try and it's not the training that turns the off rather the fact that military men are actually trying actively to keep the military as a space for themselves. It's not a "bro space" if you add women and how will they continue to get the same respect if women are also in the military in equal parts? It's sad that "open the door for ladies" is all u really have to complain about when women across the board lose in marriage by gaining an adult man to take care of in ADDITION to any children they may have but the man basically gains a second mom. Every single woman on this planet goes into marriage with the expectation of extreme sacrifice for their family but men go in only with the sacrifice of having to forego sleeping with other women. And now that u need 2 incomes to survive in america, women are waking up early to cook, clean, take care of kids before work while their husbands sleep then both go to work and the woman comes back to cook, clean, take care of kids while the husband comes home on the couch and ask for dinner. If I could do my mundane, redundant job from 9-5 and come home every day and just get to "turn it all off" and have a wife slave over me I'd rather do that than remaining a woman and be expected to possibly sacrifice my ambitions for my family and never catch a break cause being a housewife is 24hours non stop.

I can understand sleeping with your child when they're still babies but I think kids should learn to sleep alone at the latest when they're toddlers.. It really doesn't affect the parent-child relationship and everyone gets to sleep more comfortably. I watched moon jungwon (tros lee twins mom) youtube video a while back and seojun was complaining that hwijae didn't put him to sleep/ stay with him till he fell asleep and i was shocked bc the twins are 6 years old now. At that age most kids in my country just get told to go to bed and brush their teeth. Or they get read a bedtime story and get tucked in but parent's don't still put their kids to sleep at that age

I do agree with the father on Korean education. I find education there to be nothing but pressure they spend the whole day in school (from junior high on so the kids aren't there yet) and then afterwards spend the evening at some academy and if the family is strict, they might even have to continue studying at home even after that. There is no free time and it makes me sad to think about. Like I get it, they want the your to be overachievers, to do great things in the future, but to what price?
