The young girl has a leader mindset.I love her, I hope she's gonna work in the good place with open minded people❤😂She knew what she deserved and what she can contribute to her work and you should hire someone like that because honesty from them is very important.

Being honest and blunt in interviews and not getting appointed is better than being the yes man and all dilly dally just to make the owner happy, get appointed and then being full of resentment towards them and yourself for not being honest in first place, kudos to that young lady

You can be serious about your work and still have a happy, fun, and upbeat personality. You don't have to be miserable to do a good job and be serious about it. That lady has some emotional issues that could use some therapy or psychoanalysis.

I really like the young woman that interviewed. I actually love her attitude and honesty, and think she has it right: she would give 100% while she was at work, but knows the importance of work-life balance. She also has a great attitude and holds her ground. From a brief interview like this, I would hire her. Also, blood type is like asking about your horoscope. Regarding eating out with your boss, employees are not there to be at the beck and call of an employer when they are not scheduled to work, they should never be put in a situation like that... I would never make it as an employee in SK...

That is true, but if you're a restaurant owner and looking for a chef, you will want someone that is committed to their career. Her answer to the question about her future plans are not what a restaurant would want to hear. She would be a good fit for a fast food chain, but not a hectic place like a buffet.

Koreans are seriously goal oriented but from what I understand about the "hoodie" girl applicants answer, she just goes with the flow instead of already having her future goals set even after she graduated university. Chef Jisun does not really want cheerful (and capable) employees. She wants them to "fear" and be "intimidated" by her haha....?

You are saying that because you don’t run a business or at least a successful business. On face value, as a third person, it sounds endearing and there’s no doubt about that but as an employer you want obedience and loyalty over anything else.

I was taken aback by the blood type question. I know blood types were popular in Korea to categorize personalities but as mentioned in the video, MBTI is more popular now. Also I never imagined it would be a topic of conversation in a job interview. It's illegal to ask personal, especially medical, interview questions like this in Canada so now I wonder what the rules are in Korea.

To be fair, working in a restaurant kitchen is not for the faint hearted. It is hard work, like hard work. You can barely see anyone cracking a smile in a restaurant kitchen, the work takes a toll on you mentally, emotionally and physically. Cheerful kitchen workers are more suited for fast food, were there is less pressure

I like the young lady, an employee should never consider their employees as doormats simply because they're providing a job and salary for them, everyone is allowed their time off and allowed to do what want on that day off, mental health is also important, honestly I would've hired that girl, she is a leader not a follower, the chef saying cooking is for fun is also wrong, of you're doing something you don't enjoy doing, then going to work will be more of a chore, you'll only be doing it for the sake of doing it. I personally would not like to work for this person and I certainly don't see the point of her knowing blood types.

I wouldn't want my boss calling me to hang out with her during my week off days... That's too much to ask for. Also I understand work ethics but that doesn't mean I can't voice out for myself. It goes both ways so I think the boss is a lil controlling and the toxic work environment she's creating is exactly the same way most Japanese and korean people have described in many videos. I would love to work in a place where it teaches me how to accept, learn and at the same time enjoy what I'm doing.

Hmm. I agree that if this is going to be your career that my investing time in you would make sense if you were serious in pursuing this path. If not, why should I invest my time. I guess I look at things differently. If the Chef is going to invest in training someone they should be serious about the career. That being said, I think making them spend days off eating with the Chef should be optional.

I like the girl the best. MBTI isn't accurate bc one could answer the questions just to mess with it. The first letter may remain the same, I or E, but everything after that changes as you age. If you stayed the same...where's the growth? The girl was the best bc she spoke her truth and smiled the whole time. The world is not going to fall apart if she doesnt get this job. It's better to get experience and figure out whether you want to stay in the field or not. The hoodie - get it, but maybe she didnt have a better jacket? Huge turnoff when the potential employer dings you. You don't have to be best friends, but chill. Lift ppl up instead of trying to crush them before they get out of the gate.

I agree on the hoodie. Although you still wearing clothes doesn't mean you can wear casually on formal event. thats why there are casual, formal, semi formal type of clothes exist out there. 1st impression is very important, she lose at that. 6:38 I also agree on this. Honesty is the best policy, but in busy working world especially high demand places like chinese restaurant, there is no cheerful time during work hours. would you still smiling if you forgot to prepare ingredients or mistakenly serve wrong table. If she want to work in the kitchen, I have to disqualified the girl too, not because she is not good. but her work quality suits more of relax working condition perhaps opening her own restaurant or work in a cafe. To say, she being a waitress is much more suitable than being a chef because of her cheery attitude.

I would say there is a right and wrong way to utilize employee off days. At the end of the day, if they are off, they do expect to be off so their decision matters the most, Jisun should not hold grudges and rather give them both time to rest and time to learn on their own time. She can put out the offer, if they want to they would, if they didnt, she should not hold it against them as much. As for Chef Jisun, she has a hard working mentality and its not that she orders them around like an employer on their off day to do work but rather take the day off as an opportunity to mentor them and increase their knowledge in Chinese cuisine. Was she supposed to take them out for a trip during working hours? There is some double standard in the reactions of both the host and the audience to this because Chef Hoyoung spends most of his filming off the kitchen, introducing us to different sets and scenes. Sometimes his employees would be there so does that also not mean he took them out on their day off?

I was surprised how they go to interview without dressing smart casual. I think it comes together for a good first impression. Learning a bit about the company you are applying should be done too. Its also another way to see if you are fit for the job and the company environment. Atleast, they said everything frankly how they run the restaurant and do not fake that its all fun and happy inside the kitchen.

The girl probably won't fit in most asian companies. She's too individualistic. Maybe suitable for European companies. The middle guy's answers aren't great. Doesn't stand out. The left guy would typically get the job. He's average. Most asian companies would hire average guys so not to cause problems.
