Before LAX, There Was Grand Central Terminal | Things That Aren't Here Anymore | KCET

Until 1959, Grand Central Air Terminal in Glendale was the primary Los Angeles airport. This was the home to weekend air shows and the popularization and romanticiation of air travel and the airplane pilot. Southern California also attracted aviation pioneers and industrialists like Jack Northrop, Glenn Martin and Donald Douglas.

I clicked in just to hear Ralph Story's narration. Story brought so many "little parts" of Los Angeles out for everyone to see and enjoy.

One thing that still isn't here is a direct rail line from Union Station to LAX. How did that not happen? There could/should have been even three direct lines, with other ones being from West LA and South LA even from Anaheim.
