Leaf Identification for Ontario

The Happy Camper shows some ways to ID a few of Ontario's deciduous tress leaves: Elm, Basswood, Black Ash, White Ash, Beech, Sugar Maple, Red Maple, Red Oak, White Oak, Trembling Aspen, Balsam Poplar, Large-toothed aspen.

I enjoyed your leaf identification. I took dendrology in college for biology credits. I enjoyed the course, after leafs fall we had to identify by bark and terminal buds. I made an A in dendrology, back in the seventies. So yes I am old as dirt. I got 100% correct on your test. I have been a faithful follower for years. Keep up the great work.

@@stevel5771 He scared me too at first. During a test of the water pump hose for forest fire fighting I let the clamp go by mistake and water and mud splashed into his face. I thought he was going to kill me - but he laughed and said " I guess you failed that one Mr Callan." LOL He ended up being a good instructor at the end.

@@TheHappyCamper got the beech and elm reversed. I have an big American elm in my front yard that unfortunately has the Dutch elm disease. It's had it at least 15 years, and is slowing dying. I wish there was a cure for it.
