@KCNails you are so welcome!! ❤️ I've been doing my own nails since Covid started, so like idk like 4+ yrs now (I've lost track of time lol) and I taught myself from KZbin vids. I've never seen your channel before but now I'm binge watching your work and I love it! You've given me some new tips and pointers I've never tried before so I'm excited to apply them to my own nails when I do them again. The way you applied the dip powder and built your apex up is a technique I never tried and I think it'll make a world of difference! I got away from Dip and have been doing gel-x for a bit, but no matter how i do them they pop off so easily and do not feel strongly attached. Congrats, I also have a lot of kiara sky’s dip powders, but for some reason I tend to do more acrylic and polygel, this video makes me want to pull them back out. It’s probably because it’s really hard for me to build the nail correctly with dip powders… again congrats, kiara sky makes great quality products that lasts a very good amount of time. I know it's an older video but I'm not sure I like the idea of mixing gel and dip powder products in the technique. I'll look for a different method that uses only dip powder for ombre.

You can gently tap the powder over dip base. But unless you have a slow drying dip base, it can be difficult to do correctly and quickly

Hi. Question: Can I use the regular base coat that came with the kiara sky dip set to do the ombre? Or does it need to be a gel top coat?

So there are methods for dip powder ombré with dip powder liquids, however, this method I showed is for gel base coat. The powder sticks to the tacky layer of the gel after curing. You’re essentially “scrubbing” the powder onto the nail. For dip powder liquid ombres, you won’t want to let any brush touch the liquid since it’s essentially nail glue: you’ll glue your brush bristles together. For that, you’ll want to tap powder hovering over the nail, which will give you an ombre! There are a lot of tutorials for that method, but I haven’t been good enough with that technique to make a tutorial on it myself.

Thank you! This was quite a long while back so I don’t remember how long this one hand took me.. if I were starting with natural nails to work over, I would gestimate about 4ish hours maybe? Lol I’m pretty slow when it comes to doing nails so something like this typically takes me 1-3 hours per hand depending on how fast/detailed I’m trying to be

I never have mine break. It’s just as sturdy as acrylic nails! I would personally say to go a bit on the shorter side unless your nail tech fully understands how many coats is needed for the length you want. I’ve personally never seen nail techs do nails this length with dip powder, mostly because it’s more time consuming than just doing acrylic since you have to build the apex up.

With dip powder, there’s 2 great ways I use for French tips! The first one is with only dip powder, I do have a video tutorial on this that was pretty recent (September) And the other way, I like to do French tips using dip powder is actually to paint it on with gel polish after filing and shaping the dip powder
