I always find it hilarious that people hate on herd management so much when Way of the Hunter is literally Herd Management Simulator and yet everyone claims it's the superior game. I've been given numerous excuses trying to justify it over COTW when it comes to HM, but excuses don't change what something is.

It doesn’t affect great one spawn rate. It’s been proven countless times to only affect diamond spawn rate. Which does give higher super rare chance. Great ones are just as rare with Hm or without. Hell they might be rarer without because you can shoot more males on your map when you’re not using Hm

I felt like im hacking if i do this herd thingy so i just walk around on my need zones every day to kill what ever potential i saw 🤣 i can't sit all day and do these herd management thing so far im playing for like a week now i got 5 diamons 1010 Harvests and 2 messed up diamonds bear and black tail since i dont own many reserves.

Natural hunter with ya man, I get why people would want the amount of Great Ones they get using herd management but to me you don’t give the animals a chance to really flee or use their senses. Just like lining em up and knocking em down like bowling pins. I don’t agree with HM but I don’t hate anyone that does it, although I will say HM does devalue the trophy. I personally, can’t be satisfied by just setting up a “grind” and jumping zone to zone. It’s a hunting simulator, not a slaughter house. That’s just me 🙆🏽‍♂️

For me herd management is not helping me spawn great ones at all. I pushed my whitetail to the point where I only have 25 shootable deer per rotation that are not level 1s. 3720 deer killed. 183 diamonds and no great one

Same for me I'm doing red deer around 3000 kills around 50 diamond and 8 rares no great one. I think some people are using mods and passing it off as hm.

Same over 2k red deer while managing and no g1s. I have 10 diamonds on my map now and nothing changes. Not sure how some get so lucky

After watching this back a while later I myself have spawned 9 moose since this came out and I did use hm its not cheating or a exploit even the devs talk about it in a good way and promote it. It also is very hard to shoot down and hm your map I could argue heard management is harder than just shooting stuff till it shows up😅 like why not take the hard route and take the time to hm your map so you can get them fast. For example for the time you spent on one fallow the easiest great in the game 8,000 kills with no hm with me I've gotten 14 fallow in 8,000 so is it just me or is hm just a fun quick way to get stuff to spawn😂

I think when the black bear GO got introduced and herd management came back to light (not to this technicality of stacking etc) the community somewhat separated. There is tension everywhere. Either you love it or hate it. The dev’s won’t intervene because why would they want people to stop playing the game… let’s say if they switched up the population mechanics. We know they don’t want any kind of negative backlash.. so sadly we just have to accept there are people that play the game normal (run around and shoot whatever) or shoot any “male” they see.. then others that I will say “manipulate” the herds. I said what I said we just gotta accept it sadly. 😅

I think they should up the GO spawn rate slightly, BUT... make it literally the hardest animal to take down. No consistent need zones, high spook radius, you name it... make us use the skillls we earn by leveling up to hunt it. I think that would be way more satisfying than making it a grind animal. Essentially, if you don't grind, the likelihood of ever seeing one is next to nothing.

Heard is a big time bummer. Totally devalues the trophies. Especially for people who choose not to do it. It was not how the game was designed to be played, I hope EW can find an alternative way to control what level animals spawn in at. Until then Great ones will continue just feel like meh. Like imagine how stoked you were to find your first diamond. Now you have lodges where KC doesn’t even give diamonds second though. Also if you noticed every diamond in that lodge was incredibly high scoring. That player probably has enough diamonds to fill that lodge 5-10 times over…
