The linux version you're using is over a year old. This might be why. This is normal for the software manager as software gets tested with supported version of linux, along with other applications in the software manager or at least that is my understand. There are terminal commands for Mint installtion of the most recent version on the KDEnlive site.

For those wondering if Kdenlive is stable on Linux Mint, it is. Those in the comments are most likely new to Linux and don't know how to properly install programs with all the required dependencies. Since it is a KDE based program, you'll have to run "sudo apt install kde-runtime" and "sudo apt install frei0r-plugins" in the terminal. I've used Kdenlive without any problems. Openshot should be the last thing you chose. I am running it on an i3-8350k with 12 Gbs of DDR4 RAM with out a GPU. You'll be fine.

Not to mention that, if one NEEDS an "ADOBE" product to finally create a file in the format that "the pros use," then it wouldn't make any damned difference what editor you use, does it?

THANK YOU for another great Video Chris!!! My computer is WAY too SLOW for the 12.5 Resolve "that I've been trying to use"... Resolve uses 8Gb (of my available 12Gb) Memory as soon as it opened and it keeps using it even when idle, until I closed the program... I LIKE this Kdenlive and this computer likes it much better as well... It only uses 4.8Gb... 2.7K video does play choppy in the timeline (computer has built in Graphics that obviously isn't great) but it only skips a few frames and it does it "consistently" = it works much MUCH better than Resolve did for me... I like how the timeline scrolls side to side with the mouse wheel and in general it's been MUCH easier to learn/use compared to Resolve :) Thank You again Chris...

So far so good accept that it can't render as MOV if wanted??? There's a guy Josh (JTO2GO) that's been posting Drone Videos called FanFlightFridays... @ExplainingComputers6 жыл бұрын
I know. 64 bit is everywhere -- largely in video editing since the move to HD, as programs want 4GB accessible RAM or more.
@hocineabdellatifhouari32636 жыл бұрын
usually heavy programs such as video editing ones demand a high processing job from the processor, having 32bit processor would double the work for it plus it's slower than 64bit usually in term of release date and technology used on it, so it's easy for companies that release this kind of programs to just stick with 64bit CPUs only, and finally 32bit CPUs can use only 4GB ram or less of computer resources, but most editing programs demand 8GB ram, sorry for much talk, hope you know why now :).
