I don't no why you don't have more views. Your series of videos of Kdenlive are great. Quick and easy to understand. I love Openshot because it's dead simple to use. But there are features I need from Kdenlive.

I have version 24 and many of the effects he shows have moved in the effects list. But they are all there.

TJ do you have a tutorial which explains some of the 'colour' effects? I'm trying to work out how to use them, particularly the 'Levels' one, which I can vaguely understand in GIMP and Darktable for still-images but am 'puzzled' by.

Hi Tom. I don't have a levels tutorial for Kdenlive, but I do touch on it in the Darktable tutorials. The principal is the same but the interface is different. I'll see if I can make a video on it for videos editors.

Hi TJ! I have been using Kdenlive for a while, but I still don´t know if there is a way to apply an effect to all the clips at the same time, instead of having to apply each effect to every single clip one by one. It would be a huge time saver. Do you know if such an option exists? Thank you!

Good question. Yes, it does exist, but its a little confusing. Apply the effect to one clip and adjust settings as you'd like, then right click on the clip with the effect and go to 'copy' then right click on the clip(s) you want to apply the effect to, and go to 'paste effects'.

Not sure if this is still applicable, but it's possible to apply Master Effects to the entire timeline, Track Effects to an entire track, as well as applying effects to clips in the bin so that they apply to all the clips in the timeline. kdenlive.org/en/project/effects-everywhere/

In version 24, I highlight all the clips and tracks using shift left click on the mouse. Then I drag the effect anywhere into this group.

Yes: duplicate the track, and on the track that has the effect, add a Rotoscoping effect: userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Effects/Alpha_manipulation/Rotoscoping

If you mean just a clip, then drag it on top of the clip. If you mean just a part of one clip, you can either use a "keyframeable" effect, or cut the clip into sections.

Which software will you refer to beginner video editors?

I recommend this software, kdenlive. The principals of video editing are similar between most video editing software, such as timeline, video resolution, frames per second, key frames. etc... Learning kdenlive will make it easier to do video editing in any other software you choose. Best of luck!

Hi Everyone! Does anyone know how to reset the kdenlive to factory default like settings, including the arrangements of the different areas like the 'project bin' etc.? I am on Windows and trying to Help>Reset Configuration but that just closes kdenlive and doesnt appear to do anything that is required. Tried re-installing the software but that also doesnt help, it stays like the previous one. Please help me. Thanks!

Hey, not sure if you still need help with this, but if you go in "View", you can reselect and deselect the different panels, and once they're selected, you can drag them to the area that you need. From View, you can also load different layouts.

@@lemonline3719And on my version of kdenlive, 22.12.1, you can select between 5 predefined layouts: Logging, Editing Audio, Effects, and Color. All customizable as you say.
