I was not yet born when Indiana Jones was released, but my mom loved that movie series. She had, I think it was still in VHS, and I grew up watching it. I am very familiar with Short Round, I love that character. He was very entertaining. So seeing Ke Huy Quan once again in Everything Everywhere All at Once, and of course there’s Michelle Yeoh & Jamie Lee Curtis as well, got me very excited & happy. That was an incredible movie. Everyone were great in that movie. Congrats for winning! Although I’m from the Philippines, I’m Filipino-Chinese, and I celebrate with you for this wonderful achievement!🎉🎉🙌👏👏👏

I'm bawling watching this! I grew up on the Goonies and Indian Jones, and I was so sad when I realized he faded out of Hollywood. Seeing him made me so happy. Goonies never say die!

I can understand how he felt and went through in the last two decades when he was overlooked or unable to find a role in a film despite being talented. It is an irony that we all face from time to time. He has once again proven that learning something never goes to waste, and that once you have the opportunity to show off your skills and talent, you should give it your best shot.

I was looking for this comment. Does Spielberg have a rule against recasting previously casted actors? Maybe Spielberg doesn't have that many connections in the industry...

@@boltup5566 Spielberg answered this question. He does not pick people to help or start their careers. As a side result, it does have an impact on people who are cast in his movies. However, his job as a director is to find people that supports the role required by the script. That is it. If there are no scripts that ask for people who look like Ke then you cannot just stuff someone in there who does not support the script. Yes there are examples of whitewashing (eg. Ghost in the machine, marvel) and often times it is a white person who replaces a POC based on .....business reasons.

@@MrSatchelpack Exactly. They are fabulous international stars but they are also limited to a very niche film roles. Would you ever see any of these artist in a Georg Cloney, Brad Pitt or Chris Evans type role? But no one is suggesting that we are replace all these great actors in all roles. It is allowing for and accepting all types of looks in various roles and a variety of scripts beyond just someone standing in the back just so that the background looks colorful.
