Songs like this are an integral part of Indo-Caribbean identity. Suriname, Guyana, Trinidad and now in the Canadian, US diaspora. Most person's think she's singing Hindi but actually she's singing Bhojpuri. Kinda sad that Indo-Caribbeans are so unaware of their history. Big tune nevertheless. Surinamese singers are also very underappreciated. Everyone knows Kanchan and Sundar Popo.....but Dropati, Ramdew Chaitoe are not as celebrated though they should be.

I'm british indian.. my parents were from UP India... the region where they speak bhojpuri. I can understand the lyrics !! Bhojpuri (hindustani) speaking area is where many of the indentured labourers where taken from by the british and other colonial powers back in the day
