I lost a dear Uncle to leukemia last week. He was 62, never married and no kids. He was a sweet, gentle soul. It caused me to reflect on what is important in life and how short our time is on this planet. The modern world is a crazy place and unfortunately people are not the nicest at times. Time and time again I return back to this travel channel. It always feels like home to me. It must be my wandering spirit. You’re living the best life Gabe! Enjoy every moment! Thank you for this amazing travel channel.

this humble island of Kea is "world famous" among experienced divers for two very important and famous shipwrecks 1. the wreck of the Britannik (sister ship of the Titanic) which was sunk in 1916 by a German mine and discovered in 1975 by the famous French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau. 2. The wreck of the French ocean liner Bordigala, possibly sunk by the same German submarine! in 1916, and discovered in 2008 by a local group of divers. 3. There is also an old Greek steamship and a German WWII Junkers 52 bomber...

Cool.

@@RG-cz1tc I assume you mean the Britannik. It's not a big contribution - as I said the wreck was discovered by Jacques Cousteau with his famous ship Calypso in 1975 who explored it with his team. It is located very close to the port of Kea (about 3 km), at a depth of 120m (400 feet) so only very experienced divers go down...

The drive from Lavrio to Athens when you take the route across the coastline is very scenic. I don't know if you took that drive, probably you didn't since it takes longer, so you took the boring inland highway route. I think that coastline route deserves a video or two of its own.

If you want very few people and total chilling check out Elafonisi. And a different one to see is the capital of the Cyclades, Ermoupoli town in Syros. Hydra is lovely also, small but very close to Athens and no cars allowed. Have fun😎

Great Video Gabriel. To be honest I much prefer these low Touristy islands to those over infested with people. Much more authentic as they are not chasing money from Tourists.. The 1949 probably refers to the floor being donated to the church... I see it in Churches here in Australia, wealthy Greeks donating items and the Church recognises them with their name and date :). 26:43 The site was funded by the European Union and the Greek people to preserve and restore these ruins for people to visit. As for the building it could have been a dwelling for workers for the site but I'm not certain ...or perhaps they had a Park ranger of sorts who lived on site.
