Keane Wonder Mine - best mine to explore in Death Valley

From 1903 through 1917, the Keane Wonder Mine was one of the most profitable mines in the Death Valley region, with over one million dollars of gold extracted. Today, it is one of the best preserved and easy to explore mines in Death Valley National Park for those willing to drive off-road, and go on a short hike.

Beautiful! Can you reach the place with a regular clearance 2WD?

The road is definitely not say, as intense as some of the 4WD in and around the park, so the answer is a qualified maybe to yes depending on what you are driving. Judge accordingly if you go ;)

In some cases, I would agree with you. However, this is been on National Park maps for over twenty years, in every guide book for the park, recommended by park rangers, subject of a NPS KZbin video, it is not a secret.

Many mines in Death Valley are sealed by the park service, but there are entrances to this mine scattered around the area. Obviously, the park service - and I - would warn you about the many risks of doing so if you do go. ;)

@@rupman27isback that's a little more difficult to come by for the park. Might have to use your Google-Fu. I can say for the Keane area, most of the openings are within visual sight when you walk the trail.
