yeah but fact is we live in a society that differentiates between masculine and feminine and simply because it's a "construct" doesn't make it any less real. the fact that these constructs exist is important for butches, femmes, trans people etc. etc. "boyish" is a whole ass label in certain communities.

(for reference, im afab) ive been questioning for awhile if im genderfluid, but anytime i see other experiences i doubt myself. i dont feel my gender changing from day to day, but moreso how i want to look and be percieved by others. im very usually comfortable with being percieved as a girl, but it changes. it usually fluxuates between very fem, somewhere in between, and androgynous. i only occasionally feel masculine. i dont really have specific pronouns i want to be called depending on whether i feel masc, fem, androgynous, etc, but instead go by any pronouns. would i still be genderfluid or maybe some other identity? itd be helpful if someone answered 😭

@@anotherday2084 I personally don’t think so because those are very gendered terms, and it doesn’t make sense to make everything have a gender. That can make people who don’t identify with either of those genders feel excluded or weird, which is never what we want people to feel. It makes more sense to say “feminine and masculine” than “girly and boyish” because they’re describing the things without giving them a gender. I hope this makes sense haha
