This is the first song I heard walking in to Sweet Sundays in Melrose. Best time of my life. House music forever.

I bought a cassette at Exodus Records in Montebello Ca around 92. It was “House Music Vol.1” This was the first track . For me it’s always signaled the beginning of house music. Murk forever!

@@CarlosGunX No way! Nice one. Back in the day we used to go to a dingy basement club in Covent Garden, London, called The Gardening Club 1992-3 where they had a night called Feel Real, playing all the new Murk stuff like this and it blew our minds. Deep. Thanks again for the insight (I have a small studio and have been making electronic music since then and to this day, so appreciate the old school studio gear.

@@vooveks I still own and use the out board gear listed, but of course, with Protools work station instead of the analog multitrack and desk.

The pressing on this was so dirty and filthy. It makes me wonder if they took lessons from Trax records in Chicago and dumped some trash, roadkill and body parts into the melting vat. The bass was so scummy it would melt your speakers. Delicious.

Ha Ha ha - Scummy bass! Love it :)
@vooveks19 күн бұрын
Yeah, that didn’t happen (unless you’re not being serious). Trax were known for making bad pressings, but that just because they were bad pressings. Vinyl production is such an artisanal process, with so many points of error or failure, that they clearly failed on one of them. There are low quality vinyl examples everywhere, and it’s mainly because they used, well, low quality vinyl for one thing, or experienced an error at some other stage of the process - possibly worn metal master discs. The idea that they would deliberately contaminate the vinyl with anything whatsoever is ludicrous, as contamination would be something they would avoid at all costs, not encourage. No mastering engineer or vinyl producer ever wants 'scummy' bass. They want high quality bass produced at the best fidelity possible. What you're basically talking about is distortion, which is only desirable in the production process (i.e: making the music), not the mastering or vinyl pressing phase.
