Thanks for the great review Keegan, very thorough and informative. Hard to beat the Oni 290, but the Wasatch Darth Quattro has become one of my go to small stream rods. So many great ones out there, tough to choose sometimes.

Cheers! I still haven’t fished any Wasatch rods, but I’ve heard good things!

Really like your Videos. I’m a California guy. I lose Tenkara and been following Tenkara videos for a few years. Love the High Sierra videos. Keep it up. I’m working in Alaska and Grayling on Tenkara is a blast. I’ll be there next summer. Hopefully get a dolly or a big Rainbow

@@seanerichumphreys5253 amazing! I would love to catch grayling. Thanks for the kind words!

Great choice. The expensive, elite Japanese rods will always be there if and when you want to try em!
@blueridgeflyguy95513 ай бұрын
@@MostlyTenkara yup. I have a bunch of those Japanese rods in 360 and 400cm and just can’t justify the expense. As a veteran I get a really nice discount at Dragontail so the combo of customer service (elite) and ease of purchase (equally elite) wins this time

@@blueridgeflyguy9551 Yup, sound like a great idea. The kaida is fantastic rod!

just starting to experiemnt the world of japanese rods after picking up some Tenkarabum rods.

@@RequiosWoW Japanese are still the king! Tho some US companies are getting close now (Dragontail Kokoro comes to mind, some Tanuki rods too)
@RequiosWoWАй бұрын
@@MostlyTenkara yes the Kokoro is a great rod I love it and it opened my eyes to the possibilities. Have you broken any of these rods? Replacement parts I assume are challenging to source if not impossible for some models.
@MostlyTenkaraАй бұрын
@@RequiosWoW I have broken the Tenkara Mini 32 and the Air Stage Fujiryu. In both cases I was able to get replacement parts from Chris at TenkaraBum, no problem (but they were about twice as expensive as Dragontail). I have extra tip sections for my Onis as well, purchased with the rods. I haven't found it to be a big issue.

Hey Keegan, would the Tenkara USA UKIYO fall under this same class? Have you fished it or have that rod? I’m curious your thoughts as it seems to fit into this category. Thanks for the feedback.
@MostlyTenkara3 ай бұрын
Yes, I would have loved to include the Ukiyo in this comparison, but I don't have the rod, have not fished it, and can't justify buying it given how many rods of this size I already have. If I can borrow one in the future or TUSA would loan me one, I would absolutely review it!

Here's a good review of that rod: www.tenkaratalk.com/2023/12/tenkara-usa-ukiyo/
