One comment I remember specifically was “He doesn’t deserve to be insecure about how he looks, I would kill to have a more masculine face. I didn’t get to look like that! I don't think that's the point of him wearing it. He's doing a very common thing and he's separating the character "Dream" from the person "Clay". People do it when they feel overwhelmed, they stop being themselves as they create a character who is capable of dealing with the situation. I do the same thing, only my character is Phantom. They embody everything you want to have and are capable of dealing with anything. What is worrying is the detachment from reality. Sometimes, you like your character too much and everything is so overwhelming that you stay as the character all the time. After a while, you forget who the real you is, what you like and what you find joy in. I sincerely hope that this doesn't happen because it can lead down a very dark path mentally. This may not be what is really happening but it makes sense as I don't think he is silly enough to truly believe that wearing a mask will make him less recognisable. I think Dream is becoming his online persona and he's totally removing Clay from all that.

As a cosplayer who has to look through a similar, yet harder to see through material on occasion, literally do not ever drive wearing that. Don't do anything even remotely dangerous wearing a mask like that unless you are trained for it. Thats one of the big things cosplayers and fursuiters know not to do.
