Pacific coast of CHOCÓ same vibe most are unfriendly to outsiders. Africans/indigenous have mixed over the century's, I get that look often. Its just curiosity .The fishing/Whale watching tourism is booming but unpaved pot holes streets are not uncommon. One the flip side. Calm seas, no haggling, great place to relax, local food and restaurants are on point where ever you go. many privet volcanic sand beaches access by boat only. Accommodations is great but won't come with a smile until you initiate friendly conversation with the locals. Breaking the ice. Then you get invite in. Awesome place to unwind whether hostel or 5 star lodging or resort.
