Hey Lily I have camped all my life since 5 years old. I was taught at an early age by my Indian father to " Walk this earth without a trace" To be invisible, so that no one ever knows I was there. I have. never understood trash in nature. Thank Goodness for Clean Up Crews💖🙏🤗

We were taught the same. And we picked up trash that others left behind. My father took us as far as Maine to go camping. And we lived in NY. We cleaned up the beach near us often.

I love places like this. I love knowing they exist even if I can’t go camping there often enough. If the developers had their way, it would be lined with casinos and condos.

Thank you for the information and for your insight about Lake Tahoe. I had the opportunity to see its southside. The Ponderosa ranch of the TV show Bonanza (1959-1973) was supposed to be located at this lake's eastern shore.

I stopped by that spot , the Ponderosa shooting area, but it was closed at the time. I loved that show as a kid.

Oh my we just put out a 3 part video about our time in Lake Tahoe and we fell in love with it! We were lucky and did not see any of this but I could see it happen when it is very busy we have unfortunately seen this at many places we have hiked over the years and it breaks my heart. One thing that annoys me to no end, is people trashing amazing nature spots. I've only been to lake tahoe once, and it didn't look this bad with trash. It's such a shame that people don't respect nature. Unfortunately where I go camping, people like to trash the place as well. It causes me to have to clean up the place before I even get to setup. This needs to stop, but cheers to the people that decided to step up and clean up the mess. I really appreciate the effort to preserve our nature.

I’m glad you are the good stewards. There have always been litter bugs but it has really ramped up in recent years. You have to hike at least 2 hours in to find clean places. Because litter bugs are lazy.

@LilyGazou I've been taught at an early age to respect nature, and we always try to leave the place cleaner than we arrived, even if it's by a little bit. I always make sure to bring extra trash bags and gloves. I wish more people would do the same. The last time I camped it took me 2 hours to pick up all the bottles, cigarette butts, cans, left over charcoal, clothes and so on. The crazy thing too is there are rangers that pass by all day, but don't do much at campsites that aren't pay spots. I had to take pictures of when I arrived, and when I left so I don't get blamed if people trashed it after I left. I feel it's definitely getting worse all around. Having to hike 2 hours in just to find clean places is absurd, and honestly some people shouldn't be aloud to come in and ruin things for everyone else.

Beautiful hiking in the area too. If you go down into Nevada, gardenerville area, there are Basque restaurants that serve family-style. Lots of Basque people came to the area as shepherds up in the hills. The towns had little hotels for them for when they came in seasonally.

Well, it's easy to get pissed off at a scene like this and the mentality behind it, but I'm focused more on the loving volunteers who actually _give a crap_ and are taking care of business. I'm guessing they have to keep opening to the public on such holidays to promote tourism $$$.

The reason why the daily level of the junk and stuff is becoming because of capitalism, and because of the stuff that we invent you thousands of years ago, we never had this much stop of stuff. Today we have so much so much stuff, it's unbelievable. I've seen people even for a great good furniture. Every daily on a daily basis. So sad, we make stuff and we frozen as we have plentiful of it, but we are going to pay for that down the road.

I see this nonsense all the time in fact, even when I'm driving on the side of the road, I see furniture Chester drawers very good condition just left by the side of the road for the garbage man to pick up. Why don't they just don't make it and give it to someone that needs it saving some poor person money to buy furniture, this is how when I built my Van and my camera trailer that's how I bought furniture I didn't have to buy any furniture really? I've got it from the streets, how weird is that? This proves my point. We as humans waste times and tons of stuff and not to mention. I will consume market industry part-time and the matter. Of food we throw away is astounding. There's 7 billion people on this planet. And they say there's not enough food for this human race. That's not true, there's more and enough food for 7 billion people. Is just at the rich countries keeping for themselves and waste it all. And thought about economics and money. That's another problem, why poor countries don't get no food.

i just camped for 10 days in surrounding tahoe area. the free forest service/blm camping is trashed everywhere!! Garbage/feces/plastic/cig. butts /cans/toilet paper ohhh my !! WHAT A DUMP !!, what the hell is wrong with people ?? seems like allot of long term campers not obeying 14 day rule... people are disgusting mostly everywhere i go these days. KEEP TAHOE BLUE ??? Good luck with that with all these losers runnin" around in the woods PLUS homeless encampments everywhere with piles of household garbage everywhere ...... WTF ?? ns

Thank you for taking the time to report from there. It’s rather disturbing. I don’t know what’s wrong with so many people. They brought it in , they can pack out the trash. It’s not like it costs anything to get rid of garbage. There are dumpsters. When we climb Rainier, the rangers give you “blue bags” so you can pack out the poo. Yet there is poo up there on the snow and it’s not from dogs. Sorry to be graphic. I just cleaned up an area yesterday that was trashed by co-workers from another department. “ let the little people deal with that” seems to be their attitude. It’s not my job but it was so disgusting, I had to do it.
