The ND rod magnets are the best purchase I've made. They're so good.

Totally agree. Saved my rod a few months ago. Forgot to loosen my drag. Got fish and they saved it. Also no need to release them like these jab ones.

Forget the cable ties. Just tie a double loop knot in the elastic. Much easier and neater too.

I can't wait to see people playing big carp with a bank stick and buzz bar dangling from their rod butt.

I have five of them, love them. I bought some plastic cord ends though to use instead of the cable ties; much neater. I always put them the other way round too, so i can disengage and lift my rod with one motion.

I purchased a pair of these a while ago and for a while all was good and safe, however!!! One broke at the point where the bar retaining the bungee was attached to the body of the mechanism and apon inspection it was clearly obvious that the material holding said bar is extremely small and in effect its reliant on effectively a pivot point as the other end of the bar is unsupported. All i did was to release the thing via the button as i was doing a recast and apon setting the rod back on the rest when I pulled the strap back onto the release pin without warning the bar snapped off and the tiny point where it was attached to the unit came away as stated earlier. I immediately discontinued the second one and went back to some old john Roberts grip rests and eventually purchased two " butt bungees" that are much more robust and are manually disengaged AND unlike the jag ones are infinitely adjustable via the supplied alan key whereas to get the jag ones to fit another rod it might be necessary to buy spare bungee straps, i hope one day soon there will be a review of the " butt bungees" they are on a different level entirely altogether

You must have had the cords too tight. That bar is 316 stainless on both types. It’s extremely strong stuff
@MickD.
@MickD. 10 ай бұрын
@@gf845 hi, thanks for the comments, I would like to point out that it wasn't the stainless steel bar that broke and I am well aware of the strength of the material, it was where the bar is connected to the main body of the item that failed and that body is most definitely NOT stainless steel and if you look closely at one, the part of the body that holds the bar is incredibly minute. I did consider at the time that I could've indeed had the strap too tight so later on I removed the strap and put it on the second surviving one but both by laying the two straps side by side before installing either so as to check if there was a length difference ( the 2 items were set up for 2 identical rods ) and swapping them over I had absolutely no problems with the straps release at all and bearing in mind these items had been in use for nearly 6 months every week I am convinced that the failure was structural and I most likely had purchased one with a manufacturing defect; this doesn't mean I am suggesting that it is a faulty design merely that I experienced a sudden failure because that particular item had a flaw in, yes, it can happen to the best of them and subsequently I no longer use the surviving one as I simply no longer Trust in it.

Ah. I understand what you’re saying now. It was the alloy part. That makes sense. As much as people dress alloy up it’s still alloy and it’s not exactly known for its strength. I have the full stainless set up including the rod lockers and think you’d really have to go some to break these at that point. The price I pay is the weight of my bank ware but I feel it’s worth it.

What about saving the fish? Are your rods more important than the safety of the fish?

Exactly. More tackle tarts or should I say campers (most carp anglers I see these days are more interested in how they look than actually having any ability to fish) taken to the financial cleaners. What’s that old saying about a fool and his money are soon parted 🤔

@@HelloCarpwhat’s your point ? A carp doesn’t know if the angler on the bank is a noddy like you with all the gear and no idea or someone with basic gear. You’re welcome to keep playing the image game as it’s your money but I guarantee it won’t catch you more carp. Clowns like you have been well and truly hooked by tackle companies.

Almost used the same thing as well....but it was my girls hair tie :)) and a simple fork but rest..... Kinda expensive for what it is :)) For anything else I use a Prologic Magnetic Snatch Rest that has held up to monster catfish :)..... And it's a far cheaper device Haven't lost a rod yet, I had to jump and swim for one, but that was a match rod and a 40 ish pounder carp that didn't want to let me eat my dinner......... Was a nice experience in the summer heat.

You can use these either way, some people find it easier to slide your hand along the handle to disengage whilst others find it easier to do it facing the reel 👍
