My video explains how I came to figure out that ALL of Coastal Scents Finished Palettes that they put there Name on are actually the same product that Celia Makeup Sells! I also have Found these palettes on BHCosmetics,&Yazmo! Coastal Scents is also selling several other products from Celia Makeup ( Gel Eyeliners, Brushes,& Palettes) I couldn't believe that they all have the same Makeup everything Coastal Scents has NO Original Palettes they all come from CHINA! Palettes to compare for yourself The infamous 120 Palette, 78 Palette, both the shimmer and matte 88 palettes, the New Warm palette, Contour Blush palette, Concealer Palette,The 42 Double Stack palette they are all the same!!!!!!!!!! These palettes are being MARKED WAY TO HIGH from some Companies! I know that Coastal Scents Killed me with Shipping! I feel ripped off or should say Mislead I was under the impression that I was buying American made Cosmetics from a small Internet family run Cosmetics company when in fact they were ordering these and putting there name on them to make these palettes appear original! I also love how the word is that you can't get the 120 palette anymore from Coastal Scents but they are available on several different sites with the price Jacked up, when they are still being Made and available for a Descent Price! I truly Felt that Celia Makeup Palettes were BETTER more Colorful and better texture MAC quality not just close to MAC colors I am glad I had the opprotunity to figure this out because I am done with Coastal Scents! I was sent these palettes featured in my Review from Celia Makeup for Free to review, I will answer any and all questions pertaining to this so please Don't hold back!!!! I have tried to contact Coastal Scents by Phone and E-mail several times and I never get an answer!

It's called private labeling. Most so called makeup lines out there, particularly the new ones, don't have their own factories, labs or chemist to come up with their own unique formulas. What they usually do is purchase makeup from a private label company who would package and brand the products for them. You tell them what you want on the label, which is basically you brand/logo name and that's it. If any of us were to contact any of these companies today they will send you photos of what the packaging is gonna look like. All you have to do is tell them what you want on the package and boom! You have your own makeup line which you can sell at any price you want.

Adriana Fleming that's true BUT you also have the option to pay for unique formulas to enhance your products. I don't see anything wrong unless you're paying too much for them. Everyone is trying to make money and build brands and you have to start somewhere. I know bc I'm working on it myself. And it's not cheap.

I think private labeling is great. Many factories don't have the creativity or resources to become a brand themselves. So, a brand purchase the makeup and then they sell it along with a concept. It makes me so mad when people feel robbed because the branded product cost more than the ones that come from the factory...of fucking course!!! A brand has to come up with the concept, pay for copyright of their images, marketing, sales, publicity photo shoots, store and distribution, customer service. They are the ones who make something popular. It is stupid to expect them to cost the same as an aliexpress or ebay palette that comes directly form the factory. We wouldn't even be looking for that palette if it wasn't for the brand that made it famous.

Actually, makeup companies don't make their makeup in house often times they are all made in the same factories. So, both high end and low end cosmetics are often made in the same factories with pretty much the same formulas. The only thing that companies do is pick and order the colors. I know this for fact cause I talked to someone who worked in a lipstick manufacturing company. They made lipsticks for both high and low end companies. Often time with cosmetics you are paying for the packaging and brand name.

I have worked for Estee Lauder MAC and Clinque and cosmetics are all basically the same thing! Estee Lauder owns most of the makeup companies high and low end. The products are made in separate facilities and are different formulas! The more high end makeup is processed better the eyeshadows are pressed perfectly, low end eyeshadow can be difficult to get to show up because of the processing and cheap ingredients! Everybody loves MAC eyeshadows because they are jet milled which means they are broken down to the finest particles, they are owned by Estee Lauder however their products are processed very differently! When I made this video I did it for people who believed the quacks at Coastal Scents that made it seem like they were coming up with new eyeshadow colors and formulas as a family creating these palettes! I also wanted my viewers to be able to search for the cheapest price without worrying about the name! I do agree with the packaging statement and I believe it's all about the name brand!

Lol this is funny. I was just now going back and forth from bh to costal scents and I kept thinking what the heck these look exactly the same. How am I supposed to know which to choose? They are private labeled from Crown Brushes. Stephanie Nicole did a video on this where she compared the formulas. Crown has been around forever they are a great brand. Other companies just pay to have their name put on the pallette and then charge what ever they want. The reason some companies charge less I'm sure is because they are purchasing bigger lots and are getting a bigger discount.

Thanks for this but I don't see anything wrong with bh cosmetics private labeling their products because it's still inexpensive and great quality and it's supporting someone's dreams. I'm looking into starting my own cosmetic company and when you don't have tens of thousands of dollars to spend on chemists and labs, etc. that's the beat option. BUT it doesn't excuse to over pricing and jacking up the market.

I am a BH and Coastal Scents addict!! But I always buy the most original looking ones, which are the crazy collections that BH has, the Wild Collection, the 60s, 70s and 80s palettes, and so on, so forth. These other more generic ones I've personally never cared for precisely because the look the same on both sites and I wasn't sure of the quality. Same goes for blush and contour palettes. I am SO glad to have seen this video!!!

This is very useful information. Even though I already knew this information prior to this video, I chose Coastal Scents because of their fast shipping and the prices didn't differ very much from Ebay sellers when you add the shipping costs to the costs of the palettes.. Since my purchase was over $75 I received free shipping. Also, there are other Ebay sellers that sell the same makeup palettes other than Celia Makeup.

Hi. I had a bad experience with Morphe Brushes customer service and the poor quality of their eyeshadow palettes. I got them for $20 each and paid $35 for shipping as I live in Australia. After trying them once and swatching them I have left them to sit in the box. They're dry and chalky and very little pigmentation. As I was looking at palettes on Ebay and ordered some, I realized that Morphe Brushes palettes are being sold by various sellers from China and what I received was identical to the palettes from Morphe Brushes. Right down to the boxes and ingredients and the font used on the outside of the box. The ebay ones were a quarter of the price and newer. But they are identical. I haven't purchased any from Coastal etc or the other companies that you mentioned but all I know is that Morphe are selling crap shit palettes which are the same as ebay ones. And their customer service sucks. After my complaint email they told me they would refund the cost of the palettes if I returned them but I would need to pay for the shipping. So in total $70 shipping to get $20 refund on a $8 palette? I don't think so. Jaclyn Hill should be ashamed for misleading her followers into buying products from Morphe Brushes. I wonder what she received per palette sold by them.

No it comes out alot Cheaper Coastal Scents also quotes a Basic Shipping charge that is subject to change. All I know is I was quoted a Shipping Price than when my bill was formulated the shipping was as much as the palette!

I have one of the Coastal Scents palettes, but I've noticed so many other similar ones. I even saw one at CVS for $4.99. It was smaller than the 88 palette, but it was the same kind of packaging and colors. Wish I saw that before I bought the Coastal Scents one. I bought my CS at Amazon. It was about 20 bucks, but I added something else to get free shipping. Glad I'm not the only one who wondered about the makeup similarities.

Like many other companies (L'Oreal-Lancome and Estee Lauder-Bobbi Brown, etc.), the same distributor/manufacturer or parent company can put out two identical products, under different branding, and very pricing in an effort to maximize profit and market penetration. This also happens in food manufacturing, medical supplies and pharmaceuticals. Some folks feel better paying for the "Brand", but I feel better paying for what something is really worth. Thanks

I have also noticed the price difference. I purchased from a ebay seller in China and only paid 5.99 for my palette..and shipping was maybe 8.99. So I got it all for 15.00. Great deal compared to what some of these companies are charging. I too think there buying these products and then whole selling. I have the Coastal Scents 28 Neutral Eye & the 88 warm palettes. I thought the colors were pretty, but they made my eyes itch. I had to give them to my daughter. I had noticed that they were exactly the same colors as many other companies but the cost was different. Thanks for the honesty.

It's all Chinese stuff repackaged/new logo and passed off as their own. That pissed me off. It is just dishonest. I'm so glad you made this video!! I'm sending it to all my makeup friends.

Great info, because this was my concern as well. I was not aware of the Yazmo selling them. but I did know about the Coastal Scents, Celia, and DH. The one thing I like is the order that Coastal Scents puts their colrs in. I think that Celia is getting the mess ups, and getting them cheaper to sell. Kind of like knock-offs. But who really cares about the order of colors if you get all the same colors right. Jus me and my OCD. HA! I was Googling this exact question, and you popped up!

I figured this out too, by just looking at the YT tutorials. I was thinking "Wait a minute, Coastal Scents and BH Cosmetics have the same palettes?" I thought Amazon had a great deal, then decided to go on Ebay to compare the palettes from China and they were exactly the same. I bought two from Hong Kong, the 28 Neutral Palette ($9.99 +Free shipping) and 26 Eyeshadow/Blush Combo ($13.99+Free Shipping). Both sellers were above 99%. No brand names labeled on them.

I thought the same thing when I first came across BH cosmetics. I had also found palettes that looked identical to Coastal Scents Palettes but these are being sold on Overstock. I have seen the same concealer palettes on Overstock as well. I personally have only purchased from CS. I have not purchased any makeup since from CS. I have been strictly buying from CVS & Walgreens since they have a policy that allows you to return any cosmetics you dont' like for a full refund.

I bought a palette from ebay thinking it is the 26 eyeshadow/blush palette (something like the palette shown on right of this video)... and then after I received it I realized that it said '26 blush palette'... so I contacted the seller to verify if I can use the smaller shadows for my eyes and they told me that those were not made to be worn on the eyes... and are not safe... they didn't have to do that but they did... they were honest and told me that the product was safe as blush

I"ve known about that forever...I bought my palettes from ebay as well...and they were cheaper... What it is, is the work out to the same exact price..give or take a few cents...But u save on the additional cost of shipping..from CS.. So at Celia's they come to around 20.00 but that's with shipping... Where as CS it's 20.00 + shipping.. I've known about this for a long while..I did a video on my palettes a ways back..because i saved so much..additional costs. Thanks for sharing!~

I absolutely love celia makeup. Everytime I order from them my makeup is completely intact and ships very fast considering it's coming from Hong Kong. Also, quite a few Hong Kong sellers offer free international shipping. I'm in Canada, took two weeks to get to me. They had a delivery time chart and most countries fall between 10-15 business days. Some 16-22. It's really not that bad. I'm eyeing the Metal Mania palette right now lol. $13.38US and that includes international shipping! So tempting....

I just ordered my palette from coastal scents for $1895 but let me say this. i saw a brief video from BH cosmetics and I knew instantly that It was the same as costal scents. I should have checked the price difference but I didnt. I was ok with the $ 1895 so I paid it. Plus I saw 100 positive reviews and felt that I was good with ordering it. I've always known that all these companies are selling the same palette. It didn't bother me because Coastal Scents did a special last year where it was free shipping over $50 so eventhough their palettes were higher I bought alot of stuff and justified it (vs. on ebay where you pay $15 shipping for a $10 palette). However, now I will be checking out Celia makeup probably since CS only has free shipping over $75 now and all I really want it the 88 matte palette. Thanks for this!

Also everyone, Please beware of these Frauds on ebay from China, Japan, etc. Warehouses and Private Sellers. They are buying Bhcosmetics, coastal scents, etc. for $20 bucks putting the pots from the palettes in Mac casing and making people believe they are actually buying mac makeup, charging people $125 dollars, for a $20 dollar item. I've bought palettes from coastal scents, some dutch companies and from celia makeup. The are the same!!! Please note: the shipping takes longer from celia makeup because they send from china. But that's the only difference. You can also buy "coastal scents" gel liners there. They ship those for free at the moment.

I like BH. I know it's from China, and I know it's the same as many other "brands", but it fits in my budget and I have had excellent results with it. Do I know exactly what is in the product? Nope. Is it likely that I would worry about that anyway? Not necessarily. It is all chemical stuff that you are smearing on your skin, which truthfully is not the smartest thing anyone can do in the first place. I just placed an order with BH today. I haven't ordered from them in 2 years, and my birthday is coming up, so, yeah. I may try something more "high end" in the future just to compare, but I suspect that the only meaningful difference will be in the price tag.

Great video Camile, some people think that these palettes are fake copies which does not make sense, why imitate a cheap product??? Plenty of people making fake Nars,Mac Beefit etc . I knew CS didnt make their palettes but I do know that celia makeup is doing free shipping on a number of items, including the gel liner which was DEFINITELY a fresher product than the one I got from CS and which everyone said was the same but which I doubt. :)

I bought my neutral palette for $5 or $6 (includin shipping) from ebay, about 1 year ago or so. I also have believe for the longest time that BH cosmetics, Coastal scents, etc., majorly got their products from a cheap distributor. And I'm sure that my $5 palette is exactly the same ( in terms of colors and pigmentation as well) as the other brands :)

i bought the coastal scents 88 palette (matte & shimmer). i loved it but i have not purchased any from celia. i was wondering the same thing cuz i saw the same palettes on so many different sites. i wanted to get the warm palette and now i think i'm gonna buy it from celia. thanx soo much! i'll let you know once i get the warm palette and i try it out for myself

OMG!!! You are THE beauty sleuth, this was something that i noticed between cs and bh cosmetics but i didnt know it was that widespread. I don't think there is anything wrong with the idea of buying and reselling( in the case of the first three were the price isnt too hiked up), but the people who are selling these palettes for $40 are total CRIMINALS ripping innocent people off. I'm so glad I came across this video. I have been seeing the coastal scentson you tube and I bought what I thought was a cs 28 neutral palette from an on line seller located here in the Philippines. However,when I received it .. I can't pinpoint what was different.To see it for myself, I bought another which claims to be a coastal scents 28 neutral and am waiting for it. But now after watching this, I am definite I bought a celia makeup 28 neutral palette, not a coastal scents.

Celia's Makeup is the Ebay distributor so it cheaper to orderfrom her Ebay store if your in the US but even if u order from her directly its still cheaper than going to the others I have mentioned! I know that makeup can be held at customs for quite sometime Cosmetics need to be described as Artistic paints and materials to pass customs in a timely fashion!

Exactly Maria. It all makes sense with a little educating yourself on what's out there. I am and have been fully aware of private labeling for years and still purchase from some of these companies. (Though I'm leary to order cosmetics direct from China because they do not have the same health regulation standards that we do. But distributors in the US have to abide by our regulations so i feel a little more so safe with that.) It's about doing your homework and shopping for the best deal. I can spot private labeling a mile away. And you'd be surprised how many private label products are in dept stores yet we never question the validity of the price point. As with anything, some things are worth it, others are not. Just be aware. That being said I enjoyed the video as it gets good conversation going.

thanks for the infomation I had order the 120 palette from ebay for $.95 cent + 15.00 in shipping on ebay from hong kong but they all look the same to me but cost so much more from other companies. so thanks again.

I found out about the wholesale issue very early on when I ordered a palette off ebay and it came with a catalog of other very familiar palettes (all wholesale made in china) and then all these other makeup sites start selling those exact same palettes but just slapped their labels on them. As retailers they have that right but as a consumer and reviewer I always go to whoever offers them for the best price and refuse to accept wholesale mass-produced products for review anymore.

Thanks a lot for this video. I've known about this for a long time, I bought all my pallettes on ebay, from Hong Kong. Yesterday I did a price comparison with a shop here in Holland and I was stunned at the bargain I got. On average I've paid only a third of the retail price they charge here. And that includes shipping from Hong Kong. I saved about 200 euros buying these palettes from ebay.

CS are going to get a rude awakening I think, Ive heard a lot of people on KZbin say that 'certain companies' are telling people that the HongKong pallettes are fake and they sell the originals. I've made quite a few comments saying that they are all from the same manufacturers but with the distributers name printed on and misleading people about the product but I just get 'thumbs down' or horrible comments myself from die hard CS fans. I bought my palettes off ebay. Though from a different seller. I watched a review by MissChievous before and she mentioned that the ebay palettes are the same as those sold by CS, but cheaper. And since CS would kill me with the shipping (I live in Europe) I didn't think about it twice :)

Camille, so glad u spoke on this as a MUA in training I purchase alot of product I've definitely noticed the same thing. I live in MA & I also often wonder why it cost more for product to be shipped from NY to MA than from china to the US. Also the I've noticed the products from china r much cheaper & the c/s is much better. Just a thought!!!!

This is one of the reasons why I have never purchased from any of these places. Most palettes are the same, when I went to coastal scents after everyone was raving about them, I went to ebay and they had the same exact one for less. You can find them for about 9.99 on ebay. I haven't purchased any of them to see what they quality is like, but I will now and let you know what I think. Thanks!

Thanks for the review. I sort of knew this was going on, but not to the extent that it is. I knew that Coastal Scents was buying their products from somewhere in China, and I knew that you could get them off of Ebay for cheaper. But I had no idea so many Cosmetic Websites were trying to sell the exact same palettes. Almost all of them have lost my buisness. Only because of the fact that some of them are trying to scam people into paying way more than these palettes are worth.

After making a purchase with CS I realized that the exact same palettes were being sold on ebay and felt totally ripped off. Ever since then IIve bought my palettes off ebay. I got my 28 neutral pallette for $11! and my 88 shimmer palette for $17! That's including shipping!

Ya know what else? I found the coastal scent "paint pots" on ebay, too. I think they are under the gel liners, but I have used them under eyeshadows (after I prime my eyes, of course...). I found them on ebay for a fraction of what Coastal Scents was selling them for, and they are, in my opinion, the same exact thing/formula, too. Hmmmm.

I also discovered this some months ago. One of the google ads that is on the side of the youtube videos sell these on their sites. And they offer YOUR brand name to print on them........They also sell "genuine" mac, dior etc products....it sickens me that people get away with doing this!!!
