I always enjoy your lessons. In this case I have to say that having learnt that American children, 11 to 14 spent 9 hours looking at a screen every day it amazes me! I have my computer, so I can have access to your lessons and many other things but no mobile phone, so when I go out, I like to communicate with people face to face. A great thing to do by the way.

Thanks for the useful topic and expressions. I am a mom raising two teen children who are getting addicted to smartphones. Most of every day, I ask them to stop the smartphone. I'm worrying they might be hooked by harmful content. I think it is time to take action for protecting our next generation.

The Sith Leader, Geoff, posted a clip of the Sith chopping cardboard Jedi to bits on KZbin. The day after, the clip went viral right in front of the Sith's eyes. Jeremy thought it was a nightmare for the Jedi because he believed it would give the Jedi Order a bad reputation. But actually, since the people of the Galaxy respected the Jedi Order a lot, they weren't torn between giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down. The people only gave that Sith video thumbs-downs, even though it was viral. It only raised support for the Jedi. At the end of the day, the Jedi Order always prevailed, and Jeremy and his bestie in the Jedi Temple, Georgina, could carry on their work in the Jedi Order.

"Wow! 😲 I can’t believe that American children spend 9 hours a day on screens! That's so much time! 📱 The idea of the Smartphone Free Childhood campaign sounds amazing 🌍👏. It’s great to hear that schools in 18 countries are promoting face-to-face play and chats 👫👬👭 instead of being glued to smartphones. We definitely need more of these kinds of initiatives to help kids have a balanced and healthy childhood! 🙌 #SmartphoneFreeChildhood #HealthyHabits"

The fact that children at the age of 11~14 in America spend nine hours on screen shocked me. When I was in that age, although I had a smartphone too at that time, I didn't spend too much time on screen. Plus, many people feel depressed in these days. It seems like the entire world is getting worse and worse.

I guess it's a moot point how much time children are allowed to use a selfphone per day. As a parent, I faced this problem, too. But I tend to think we shouldn't limit the time of using phones by kids so strictly. Often, we overestimate the harmfulness of using smartphones by them. In general, to have your own smartphone, it's a point of development for primery school children and adolescent.

When we use time as an adjective to modify a noun, we don't add an 's'. For example, we would say 'It's a three-hour journey' or 'I'm going on a two-week holiday.'
