I think I would put screws in all 4 sides. You get some high winds those caps and/or lights are liable to go wandering. As for the extra bracing for the gate post.. I would go to the bigger tree for that. Also, drill into or through the tree, to screw in your anchors. Wrapping a tree like that, can kill it. The lags, or through bolts will not.

What is the idea about this. When you live in the city or a house in a small town. People come to your house all the time? I get mail deliverd to my mailbox, there are kids selling all sorts of thing. Neighbors come visiting. Garbage is collected from my property. Packages with stuff is delivered. So how is all this going to work when ppl can't get to the house?
@GoodSimpleLiving5 жыл бұрын
Its different out here, because there are a lot if hunters that wander around private land, and also kids on 4 wheelers that like to rip up and down gravel roads. The point is to deter strangers from wandering up our long private road. We will have a PO box, there is no private garbage service here, and our close neighbors can call or may even have a key.
@72strand5 жыл бұрын
I just want to understand the thinking, that's all. Hunters that hunt? They are not stopped by a boom. Mostly you stop strangers from visit you. Girls that want to sell stuff, neighbors that want to stop by and say hello.When you live like that, there are few visits. And you want even fewer?Besides the hazels for you and other.
@GoodSimpleLiving5 жыл бұрын
@@72strand hunters will wander into private property unknowingly, but gates let them know it's a private drive. There aren't salespeople going door to door out there, and even if there were, I don't want them knocking on my door peddling their junk. Visitors can call first, just like I do.
@72strand5 жыл бұрын
Thx for answer. The sort answer is that you want to isolate your self from other ppl. What do you do with the garbage? No garbage trucks? In my country things regarding land, and private land is different from other country's. First, every one have the right to walk in the forest, even if someone else owns it. Everyone have to right to pick berry's or mushrooms. You can take a tent and stay for 24 hours. You can't stay or walk near a private house and or cattle, grown fields. You can't drive motorcycles in the forest. You can't damage trees and so on. The owner are not allowed to block of the forest with fences and booms.Strangely a owner of a private road, are allowed to have a boom over the road now days. But he needs to apply for a licenses.
@GoodSimpleLiving5 жыл бұрын
@@72strand Short answer is we don't want random people wandering onto the land we own, and raise our family on. You take garbage to the free garbage facility in town. We don't isolate ourselves at all, but we do expect our private property to be ours. It's unfortunate you don't have the same rights in your country.
