Your so smart! Your like my husband! He can do anything! He built my 2 story home, and after twenty years living in it, the lightening struck it! We rebuilt it, while building another home to downsize! I miss my home that caught fire, but we probably are better off as it set on 5 acres with a huge pond that had to be weed eated and my husband was having trouble keeping up! So happy for all of you!

@Good Simple Living...Agreed. You ARE 'Blessed'. In MANY ways. My 4 acres came fully fenced. And I have the BEST neighbors a man could pray for. I'm 'low-tech' here. My 'Back' gate has as many locks as chain links. Each INVITED neighbor/guest has his own key to HIS lock. The only 'trespassers' I've had here in the last 18 years have hopped the fence and got a ride to jail after the Sheriff's deputies picked them up off the ground. MY kids are grown. But YOU have kids to protect...ZERO 'Tolerance'!...JMHO. God Bless.~~Eli.

I'm sure if you ordered these off Amazon, the screws that came with the kit are not "Stainless Steel" or "Galvanized" and will quickly rust. For my projects I for go using the screws and using "Liquid Nails" from a tube which holds metal to wood, metal to metal, etc. Very strong and long lasting. And liquid nails is very weather resistant. Just some advice. I hate having to change out rusted out screws and nails every couple of years. Great video!

I think I would put screws in all 4 sides. You get some high winds those caps and/or lights are liable to go wandering. As for the extra bracing for the gate post.. I would go to the bigger tree for that. Also, drill into or through the tree, to screw in your anchors. Wrapping a tree like that, can kill it. The lags, or through bolts will not.

@@GoodSimpleLiving Sounds good and I can certainly appreciate that! I have 30 LG solar panels on our house in what is called a grid tied system, so the solar generates about 65% of our needs and the rest is imported from the power company. I own 23 acres and have the plan to build and retire on that land and go off grid 100 %. If you have time take a look at the you tube channel called "Wild wonderful off grid" There's a young couple building their own home and they just finished installing and activating a solar system, very informative and detailed in the installation process , total cost was about 16K, no electric bills for them going forward. What is the idea about this. When you live in the city or a house in a small town. People come to your house all the time? I get mail deliverd to my mailbox, there are kids selling all sorts of thing. Neighbors come visiting. Garbage is collected from my property. Packages with stuff is delivered. So how is all this going to work when ppl can't get to the house?
@GoodSimpleLiving
@GoodSimpleLiving 5 жыл бұрын
Its different out here, because there are a lot if hunters that wander around private land, and also kids on 4 wheelers that like to rip up and down gravel roads. The point is to deter strangers from wandering up our long private road. We will have a PO box, there is no private garbage service here, and our close neighbors can call or may even have a key.
@72strand
@72strand 5 жыл бұрын
I just want to understand the thinking, that's all. Hunters that hunt? They are not stopped by a boom. Mostly you stop strangers from visit you. Girls that want to sell stuff, neighbors that want to stop by and say hello.When you live like that, there are few visits. And you want even fewer?Besides the hazels for you and other.

@@72strand hunters will wander into private property unknowingly, but gates let them know it's a private drive. There aren't salespeople going door to door out there, and even if there were, I don't want them knocking on my door peddling their junk. Visitors can call first, just like I do.

Thx for answer. The sort answer is that you want to isolate your self from other ppl. What do you do with the garbage? No garbage trucks? In my country things regarding land, and private land is different from other country's. First, every one have the right to walk in the forest, even if someone else owns it. Everyone have to right to pick berry's or mushrooms. You can take a tent and stay for 24 hours. You can't stay or walk near a private house and or cattle, grown fields. You can't drive motorcycles in the forest. You can't damage trees and so on. The owner are not allowed to block of the forest with fences and booms.Strangely a owner of a private road, are allowed to have a boom over the road now days. But he needs to apply for a licenses.

@@72strand Short answer is we don't want random people wandering onto the land we own, and raise our family on. You take garbage to the free garbage facility in town. We don't isolate ourselves at all, but we do expect our private property to be ours. It's unfortunate you don't have the same rights in your country.

Latch looks good, but where's the lock?? Won't keep anyone out if they can just open the gate! If it ain't nailed down, they'll steal it. If it is nailed down, they carry a claw hammer!

We are researching mics, totally agree. His voice is really deep, and it doesn't pick up well on the camera.
