Keeping up with technology

It's time I got rid of the old Dysons. I have had them a lot of years, they have served their purpose, now they must go. The yellow one must be 20 or more years old, the purple one I found in a skip. They are too bulky and heavy to be dragging around the house. Now I have a new gadget which is a lot lighter and easy to get into the corners. Housework now becomes a lot easier.

My $25 cellphone is 13 years old. My brother sends it a birthday card every year 🤪😄. Anyway, I'm glad you have something lightweight to work with now. It'll make all the difference. My husband insisted on a Henry, which really is a beast of industrial proportions, so …. He does ALL the hoovering now !!!!

I know exactly what you mean, I don’t like bulky heavy upright hoovers . I am a self employed cleaner and use Hetty, the female wife to Henry 😁, I find her not so big but she does get heavy when the bag gets even half full and she gets stuck around corners 🤣 Well done on your purchase dear friend 😘xxx

I have never spent loads on things my secondhand fridge I have is 8 years old 100 pounds I had another fridge from 1980 til 207 that was a fab fridge got it from a catologe same with washing machine had that for 12 years. Great video

Ilona, I had my big yellow Dyson DC04 for over 20 years. In the end, I couldn't manage lugging it up the stairs any more, so I switched to a cordless GTech Air Ram which I can lift easily with one hand. It did cost me money, and quite a lot, really, although I didn't pay full price for it (hurray!). And I have one similar to yours, handheld, which I bought because I couldn't vacuum the stairs using the Dyson. I love it! I do a lot more housework now I have better tools to do it with - it's less physically demanding too. My heart sank when I saw that big old yellow Dyson of yours. It reminded me how I didn't want to hoover EVER because it was such a clunky old beast. It's a different world now, I couldn't be happier to chuck the hoover round for 5 minutes and get it all done quickly.

I had a Dyson - so heavy to lug upstairs - got a cordless - love it - donated the Dyson to the Church I was attending - they needed one so were pleased.

I owned a cleaning company years ago, and the vaccum used makes or breaks the feeling about house cleaning jobs. Each house had a different type of vaccum, that’s how I know about different types. Cordless are great and the robot ones are great too. Enjoy your new vaccum. ❤️

I don't enjoy housework either Ilona! I do it when I have to or when its really needed. And I do my laundry once a week. I also have a dishwasher which I use every 2 days. My fridge is 15 years old and still going strong. I don't buy anything unless I have to lol! 😳 😉

My daughter bought me a Goodman kettle and toaster 2 years ago and they are both going well and performing just as well as expensive ones I have had in the past. My present vacuum is a Sebo which is super efficient but like you, I put off cleaning for much longer than I should because it is so heavy. I will have a look at the one you have bought. Lovely bit of Axminster carpet, you don't see quality stuff like that much nowadays !

I have a Sebo too. Awesome for dog hair etc, but so cumbersome that I just hate vacuuming. I'm looking at getting a rechargeable stick vacuum soon.

Hi Ilona, I've had dysons practically all my adult life but god they are heavy. Last year my arthritis got even worse so I got a gtech that you charge up. That was quite expensive but so much lighter. Not the super power of the stand up dyson but I don't care anymore, I'm fragile 😀😄😃 xxx

Keeping up the house isn't my thing either I don't really like it. But it's also very hard on my body with my disabilities. And I can definitely tell you with heavy machinery it is really hard to do so I'm sure you're going to like the lighter weight and mobility of the cordless vacuum.

Good bargain hunting! Looks like a good little vacuum. My place is so tiny I use a car hoover - which is great but sore on the back after a while, so I have to get down on my hands and knees, ha! When I saw this video, I honestly thought from the title, that you had gone and bought one of those robotic vacuums that roll around on their own, bumping off chair legs etc! 🤣

I’ve have had my vax bagless hoover since 2016. Only problem I’ve had with mine was, I let a housemate use it. When I got it back it had little bit water in it with a nut and bolt. I had to replace the metal pipe as it rusted a lot. And the next day after I use it and found the filter was damp so I had clean it. I was not impressed with the housemate.

Hi Ilona . Long ago I decided we’d have 2 vacuum cleaners , one upstairs and one downstairs . Much easier for a quick 3 min clean , much easier for the kids to have one next to the bedrooms . Nowadays I live in a flat and I bought a 50 € ( 50 £ ? ) from Lidl . Not sensible to buy an expensive one at my age, no need for one which will survive me ...right ?

I’m not a fan of housework either. I’m very fortunate that my dog doesn’t really shed hair(or at least very little) so that means it’s not necessary to use the vacuum quite so often. I too have a heavy older model passed on to me from my mother. I HATE using it! I’m sure the day will come when a choose to buy something similar to your cordless model.

I love my cordless vac, but it doesn’t do a great job on carpet. I still use the Dyson for carpets. Cordless is great for hard floors

Good for you! At the moment have a small shop vac but plan on a stick vacuum at some point. Have to find the right one. Old vacuums sure were incredibly heavy!

That grey and yellow Dyson is extremely heavy and cumbersome. We had one of the first Dysons it may have been that one , so I know. I've got a Vax rechargeable stick vacuum at the moment, much easier.

I made the mistake with a vax. Could not afford the Dyson. Now we have a shark. Which I'm happy with. I'm always on the look out on marketplace for a Henry. I miss that one!

I got rid of my stick vacuum (my husband wanted it not me!) I was always frustrated as the battery never held enough charge to vacuum th whole house, I used to have to charge it again and wait. The battery also wore out just after 12 months and was expensive to replace. 2 batteries later I have replace it with one with a cord!!!

I have always had the Hoover brand. I got rid of my corded hoover as it was heavy. I now have a cordless Hoover. It's brilliant. So light, easy to charge, run time is 45 min, easy to empty. Love mine.

O yes it will make a world of difference. I hate it when I use the hose part and the big ol vacuum falls over because the hose part is to short or not flexible enough.

Yes that was a nuisance with the yellow upright. Give it a tug and it bashes you on the leg as it falls over.

Good on you, I'm not a housework fan either, but I like the ease of use of my cordless stick vacuum to do my living areas. It was pretty cheap and is not the most powerful but it does the job. I have a cheap robo vac for the bedrooms.

I can relate completely, the upstairs doesn't get hoovered as much as down stairs here, because i don't like lugging the hoover up and down the stairs. I even thought about buying a second upstairs hoover!

Looks good and bm things are usually grand Ilona. I think it will take more than a vacuum cleaner to make me enjoy housework, I hate it and my mobility issues make it really hard. I do need a new cleaner though and getting something cordless would be more sensible than the one I currently have. Thanks for the inspiration. Happy New year.
