I wish we could use our loft but it get 15C hotter up there than indoors and that gets 10C hotter indoors than outdoors. Totally bonkers but great in winter lol 😂

That's the problem, heat rises on the inside and hits it from the outside as well. I run multiple big fans, room is insulated and have fitted 25mm celotex in the window and vents open. It stays at a reasonable temperature. Plus I live in Scotland and we get 2 days of sun a year...I believe it's a monday/Tuesday this year.

In a grid down situation, how would you keep loft warm/cool as required? Can this be done with your solar set up? Thanks.
@Scottishprepper735 ай бұрын
Hi , Absolutely. I run 3.6kw of roof solar, 12kw of battery back up. 2kw of additional powerbank. Generator and fuel stock. Will double the portable powerbanks by next month and plan is to cover the rear of the house with another 3kw of solar and double the house battery to 24kw. The fans combined dontnuse a whole lot of power to be fair and if was really pushed could open the loft window up , and downs takes windows and allow the air to flow through like a chimney. Appreciate the questions. Sp73

Pity that you can't save and store that heat for later 😞
@rodssolar82535 ай бұрын
You can if you want to quite easily, just buy or make some thermal panels and use them to heat your hot water tank
@Scottishprepper735 ай бұрын
Well with a scavenging heat system, you could

Ha ha we were only joking about this a few weeks ago, saying about the Scottish summer, great video and that's the thing with storing preps in certain places.

@@Scottishprepper73 yeah my batteries were full by 10:30 this morning and I’ve not used any power out of the batteries all day, just the panel power keeping the inverter and everything running including the air conditioner lol

@rodssolar8253 I dump to via forced discharge between 4 and 7 for octopus flux. Have 3.6 kW on roof and 12kw batteries and 2kw in powerbanks, looking to fill the rear of the house next year with panels and double the batteries, but want to go G99 and get 6 or 8kw inverter too.

Nice set up, mine is completely off grid with 10kwh lifepo4 bank charged with 3kw solar and a 2kw wind turbine and any excess power get dumped into the immersion heater I fitted in the hot tank, not that a lot gets dumped to the tank though cause with 2 kids that love to leave everything turned on, like today the system broke even all day batteries are still full even with everything on, only things we can’t use off grid yet is the power shower, everything else the 6kw inverter handles. I do have 3 power banks as well, one I made myself and two vtomans which work really well
