I've looked at many CRAVE tutorial videos on KZbin and of all of them so far yours is really the one that is most clear and easy to follow. It made a difference that I could read the 'subtitles' instead of trying to follow verbal instructions. Thank you!

Thank you Redmond! I do think that for a certain type of videos (like instructional ones) the subtitles format is better than verbal one. At least I for myself prefer them.

Great video. One other thing that I would add: While playing a sequence, press SHIFT and a step number 1-8. When the step is flashing you can do any of these modifications to steps shown in the video, but you can do them while the sequence is playing. You don't have to stop and press REC then play and listen. You can change notes, add glide and ratchet, rests, accents, all on the fly while playing the sequence.

@@SynthesaurusRex Just to update you, I never did manage to get a sequence into the Crave at all. Pressing the ‘play’ button does nothing whether a sequence has been programmed in or not. The only issue I can think of is that my green light does not flash whatever I do. Anyhow, I’ve now raised it with Behringer- wish me luck!

Hello friend. Can you chain these patterns? Like if you want to tell it to play pattern 1 then 1 again then 2 then 3?

I think you can, although I personally have never tried it. You just need to download the SYNTRIBE free software from Behringer, and you can do what you wanna do. I think. Like I said, I never tried it. Try it, and let us know how it went! 😁

tja das live switching funktioniert leider so nicht. im sync mit anderen geräten macht der crave immer einen reset der sequenz und haut damit alles auseinander. oder gibts da einen workaround?
@SynthesaurusRex
@SynthesaurusRex 4 жыл бұрын
You have a point there, herr widmer. Live-switching patterns is in fact not as easy as it looks in the video. On other devices, like the Novation Circuit, if you switch to another pattern, it usually finishes playing the current pattern and then switches to the other pattern in time automatically. The Crave doesn't do that. You actually have to exactly time the switch. I am sorry, I didn't mean to miss-inform - I'm just used to manual switching :)

I have a quick question... If I'm programming a sequence but I hit a wrong note, can I correct there and then or do I have to finish the sequence first, and then correct it afterwards?
@SynthesaurusRex
@SynthesaurusRex 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can correct a wrong input immediately, but don't ask me how now - I would have to look it up myself in the manual now.
@ChrisDepper
@ChrisDepper 3 жыл бұрын
@@SynthesaurusRex Thanks for the reply. I've figured it out now - it's obviously really - you just save the sequence to where you hit the wrong note, edit the note, then add extra new notes to the sequence.

i have a question : sometimes i make a patter in the crave, i hit play and the crave plays the sequence right, if i stop the sequence an hit play again sometimes the crave doesn't play the patter from the beginning you know why ? its like i hit play and the crave play the sequence starting in page 2 instead of page 1 its a lil bit annoying i mean if you let the s sequence run it stars to sound like normal buts its annoying when you are playing live and you hit play and the crave plays the patter from the page 2 not page 1 sorry about my english hope you have an answer
@SynthesaurusRex

Didn't I explain that in the video? If you want the pattern to restart from the beginning, you have to press "RESET", else it will continue where you stopped.

Does anyone know how to create small differences in the volume of the individual notes in a sequence pattern? For some reason some of the notes in my pattern have a lower volume and its really starting to make me feel really frustrated. The volume is turned up too high on these notes when I try to use accent. I only want to even them out. Is my synthesizer broken? Should I contact Sweetwater?
@SynthesaurusRex
@SynthesaurusRex 3 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say without hearing the actual problem. The accent function should only slightly raise the volume of the note. Maybe you should contact Sweetwater. 😕
@damonshanabarger2604
@damonshanabarger2604 3 жыл бұрын
@@SynthesaurusRex From what I can tell from the Starsky video, the volume raise is pretty noticeable. Analog has it's eccentric behaviorisms that I'm just coming to understand. I think Sweetwater is going to tell me the same thing. Case in point, the VCA controls. Compression and DAW automation should help.

Sweetwater tech gave me a spec sheet to do a diagnostic on it. I'll let you know how it turns out.

@@SynthesaurusRex From what I can tell I was over reacting. Also leaving the unit on for 15 minutes as suggested in the manual made what was not really a problem less noticeable. Nevertheless being a studio engineer hobbyist, I should want to manipulate things beyond their normal functionality to achieve certain desired effects.
@SynthesaurusRex
@SynthesaurusRex 3 жыл бұрын
I am a little snickering over here, because from what you said, I think you know WAY more about synthesizers than I do. I am actually having a hard time following what you are saying. And I am not trying to make fun of you with that, but rather making fun of myself (I am actually way more clueless than you might think). Anyhow: If your Crave keeps on giving you troubles, let me know, and I'll see what I can do 😄

Sorry Syntesaurus, But in you correction you say "press and hold SHIFT and PLAY/STOP, then choose the destination pattern and bank, and then press SHIFT and PLAY STOP. But how do you save a pattern and bank with one step. Do I press shift and rec and then ,say , 2 for the Bank , hit SHIFT and RECORD... and then follow the same procedure for the slot number wanted. ? Sorry pretty good vid..but I just dont follow this one at all.
@SynthesaurusRex
@SynthesaurusRex 3 жыл бұрын
Okay, so: If you just record or edit a pattern, and want to save the result in the same pattern (not wanting to copy that pattern to another slot), just hold SHIFT + PLAY/STOP, and then SHIFT + REC. And in case you want to copy the pattern to another slot, press SHIFT + PLAY/STOP, and then select the desired bank and pattern number. You do that the same way you normally select bank and pattern: Press a STEP switch to select the pattern, and press PATTERN + STEP to select the bank. Then press SHIFT + REC.
