Another great film, you found loads of fantastic trails, keep em coming! Honest product reviews too, I wondered if those orange bag catches would be annoying, it kinda needs a flap over the top to cover them up.

Nice video that. We are blessed in the south with places to ride

I’m loving watching this ride through that beautiful countryside, I wish I’d been into cycling when I lived down south. I’ve now got the gorgeous beloved Yorkshire Dales within striking distance but sometimes wish I still lived closer to rides in scenery like this, and the South Downs Way in particular.
@thebikepackingadventurer2 жыл бұрын
@@paulannable3734 I love riding up north. But the coastal rides down here are great. I did part of the South Downs when doing KAW route. Going to do it again but do a video of it next time. I also intend on doing the SDW in 1 day too. That will be a tough long day
@paulannable37342 жыл бұрын
Can you sense my jealousy? The KAW is one of my dreams. So far from home now. I guess I’ll have to console myself with Swaledale. I do miss those expansive Downs views, though.

Nice one, I'm really enjoying these. On a future trip, I would be interested in seeing how you travel on the train with your bike and gear. Do you just rock up at the station, or do you plan / book ahead? Maybe a separate video covering travelling by train?
@KeepSmilingAdventures2 жыл бұрын
i like the idea, i might vlog the the journey home after one of these rides next time, not sure how many people with watch it though aha but i pretty much just turn up and use GWR app to book which ever train it will let me book a bike on, Because they are so expensive sometimes i will just take the cheapest train to as close as possible to where i need to get to then cycle the rest or to the next nearest station with cheap tickets etc.
@michaelkelly3652 жыл бұрын
I cant believe this country doesn't provide more train transport for bikes. If your travelling with others like I did (3 of us), I had to get a separate train to meet the others at the start point. If possible try to book your bike on the train otherwise the attendant can refuse you.
@DavidMackenzie2 жыл бұрын
I'd like a short vid on using trains as well. People say they ride and then hop on a train. But I'm sure it's not that easy!

This really makes me want to go on a bikepacking trip again. Just did a first short one last summer. About 450 km in 8 days in The Netherlands on a very very old basic Gazelle bike, was a fun challenge though:)

Very nice, I love the fact you got the garmin edge 830 because I have it too and I'm looking forward to your feedback about it. Funilly enough I have also an issue with zippers... I hesitated back then to get the roll-top ortlieb frame bag but decided to go for the zipper version anyway. Not easy to open and close it but I'm quite happy with it. Keep on smiling and biking

Great vlog jealous of the trails you find would love trail rides that yo do. What apps do you use. I try komoot but just seems to put me on roads most of the time everywhere even if I have it set to gravel or mountain bike, could you do a vlog on how you plan your trips what you use. As I'm currently looking to do my first bikepacking trip in the next few weeks but just going to attempt the South downs way as its sign posted lol

These little videos are so good. Very specific q but what do you do if u get a puncture out on the bike and can’t locate the hole? Would you just replace the whole inner tube?
@KeepSmilingAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats what you would do, although i don't actually have inner tubes in these tyres they are tubeless so no tubes. There is sealant inside which will fix most little holes. Bigger holes can be fixed using tyre plugs. And if that fails you can just stick an inner tube in.

What happened with the crank. Is'ent this the second time you have had this problem?? Great Video though.
@KeepSmilingAdventures2 жыл бұрын
sort off, last time on the great north trail the bottom bracket actually exploded but being so far into the ride i was not going to stop so just carried on, that has sort of damaged the axle. i just replaced the bb when i got back from that trip. but as the axle is slightly damaged it doesn't sit quite as flush with the bearing so it's just been getting progressively worse to the point now that i can feel it, I kinda knew it was going to happen at some point but i like to ride everything into the grave. Got a new crank/bb on its way.

So other than the short detour on road part.....that was an all off road route? Be a cracker in the dry over summer 🙂👍🏻
@KeepSmilingAdventures2 жыл бұрын
There are a few road sections mostly quiet lanes, there is a bit of a road slog coming into sherbourne which is a pain because if this big manor place would let you cycle through it would remove that section. But they have it as no cycling and massive gates, You can walk through which i did once with my bike but it was a lot of work getting the bike over on my own.
@pedallinraw2 жыл бұрын
@@KeepSmilingAdventures shame isn’t it otherwise an ok route ! I’ve joined up a couple routes to local hills combining pavements with off-road,not ideal but I cottoned on to the fact a few years ago the huge amounts of pavement unused mostly beside roads...🙂its an option 👌🏻

What kind of bottom bracket does the bombtrack take? You seem to have a lot of trouble with it
@KeepSmilingAdventures2 жыл бұрын
it's not actually the BB this time, after it exploded on The great north trail and i continued to ride it the axle on the cranks got a bit damaged. I couldn't be bothered to replace them when i got back so just changed the BB but it's obviously just been getting progressively worse. Got new cranks now anyway so its sorted
