These KEF's are amazing! I've been in music for many years & these put out true full range. Subwoofer's not needed in music only listening.

I agree,but you really need to anchor these puppies to realize how tight they are. The box's are pretty much inert,but if you put your hand on them you can easily tell they will transfer to less desirable resonators.Sand filled stands do wonders for these speakers.

Never seen ls50’s on their side before... it’s somehow aesthetically more pleasing than the regular positioning!

I have a set of LS50's and can tell you this video does not give justice. You really have to hear them! It sounds a bit like the top end is missing compared to when I play the same song out of mine with no equalisation. Also the vocals sound much brighter in reality but a good video! Had mine 3 years and still love them.

3 months in paired with a Roksan Kandy K2 power amp & Rotel RA11 DAC/integrated amp and I am delighted with the imaging, transparency and ..bass. Have read numerous comments and reviews stating that the bass isn't great but I believe this to be a positioning issue or bad pairing. All genres sound great and I can't believe the sound produced by these stand mounters. Think I'll have these for many years to come before I get bored.
@Charme190646468 жыл бұрын
yes ... that is not easy with hifi,which amplifier to which speakers!?? If a market gap. ....If my dream job,when I could test everything! :-)
@tenminutespast8 жыл бұрын
I was quite lucky having not auditioned the pairing personally but gambled on a friends sonic judgement who had listened to this pairing (allegedly). The RA-11 is connected to the K2 via pre-out. LS50s cabled to the K2. They sounded reasonably good connected directly to the RA-11 but there is a significant audible difference when the LS50s are driven by the 125w per channel K2. The RA-11= 40w pc.

It is funny how people are commenting on the sound quality not being good. I myself am astonished at the sound quality maybe because I have previously recorded something and put it on KZbin thinking that my sound system was really good, in person it sounded amazing but on KZbin it's sounded dead average this however sounds amazing on KZbin. Sometimes I forget that when people listen to this on their crappy little computer they think it's the same it's not. You got to remember it's coming out of your crappy speakers.

Mid range is too pronounced, but very very clear. Quality of high end is excellent though equalisation is required. Good bass definition. This is assuming the recording equipment is good.

+Grace Blood The LS 50s are great speakers,but some of the credit needs to go to Kef LS50 for being such a perfectionist. If you look at all of his components,it looks like he has mass loaded them with sand filled containers and those pictures behind the speakers are probably room treatments. It seems clear to me that he takes a scientific approach to getting the best sound for his room. Great speaker can only show their true colors in a great room. From my own tests sand is one of the best things to absorb vibrations. Anything in the room that vibrates will in effect become a speaker (a really crappy sounding speaker) than muddies the sound.

Gord Thor very interesting & good on you for attention to detail. I'm a new comer to understanding HiFi speakers. I have been investing in HiFi headphones for years and dawned why do I still have this shitty sound bar? Lol I recently bought some klipsch rp150s & a Yamaha receiver. I'm gonna research this sand technique.

If your system has REAL substance, you wont need to be addicted to always listening to audiophile recordings and stuck mostly to such recordings. Try a non-audiophile, regular BEE GEES or ABBA CD etc, and you’ll see what your system is all about.

+1badhorsie I thought it was strange that Kef has the LS50s in with their flagship models(Blade and Muon),but after listening to them for the past week,maybe they have good reason. I am extremely sensitive to listening fatigue and I get none from these balanced speakers.The only shortcoming I can think of,is that they are so revealing that a poor source or system flaw will be heard as well.
@gordthor53518 жыл бұрын
What obsession? I just bought a pair of LS50s and a pair of Kef R900's because the RTi A9's weren't quite good enough (great for HT though). My R900's haven't even arrived yet and I am thinking that I will need better gear than my (many) Parasound and B&K units, to hear the potential of the speakers. Seriously though, I really only need something that doesn't give me listening fatigue and Parasound and LS50's accomplish that (with high resolution sources). The bottom line is that most problems come from the source material and the room.
