I know that Big Boss is the female, but who is the Boss? Sorry, I'm new to the franchise. Edit: Alexandra Hefnerová gave the right answer. "The Boss" is the female final boss from MGS3. "Big Boss" is actually the male. Naked Snake took the moniker "Big Boss" after he beat "the Boss" in MGS3 (which is a prequel). And then you go into the events of MGS1 with Solid Snake who is one of 3 children cloned from the genetic material of Naked Snake/Big Boss. So Solid Snake (who is also the protagonist of MGS4) can be considered a son of Naked Snake/Big Boss.

Phantom Pain wasn't a masterpiece unfortunately
@doggoboggo31404 ай бұрын
@@KoiNoYokan37lies literally the best game narratively and gameplay wise The story of the phantom pain is a story of revenge and loss and both are interconnected it’s also a story about how actions speak louder than words take quiet for example how she’s infected with the parasite strain yet she doesn’t speak throughout the game because she grows to admire diamond dogs and ends up dying for them. The game also focuses on anti war sentiments it shows the horror of war by showing through gameplay and dialogue 1. burnt buildings of destroyed African villages by soldiers 2. Skull face tries to oversaturate the nuclear arms market to make no one country be all end all shogun authority supplying any small nation or army countless weapons and by using the vocal cord parasite to cleanse the world of the dominant lingua Franca since America has a salad bowl culture and his past and language was taken from him he’s trying to inflict that pain onto everyone else but more so to keep other languages alive besides English but this makes him a hypocrite since he’s suppressing the English language. Keep in mind where the game takes place Angola zierha? Afghanistan? These are areas constantly under fire currently from mindless proxy wars and oil drilling Currently and I just checked there are more than 35 armed conflicts happening in Africa right now even in Afghanistan: The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) recorded 3,774 civilian casualties between August 2021 and May 2023 (1,095 killed; 2,679 wounded. The characters are also extremely compelling for the most part and offer a lot of insight I especially like Kaz because he’s a loyal but overly ambitious and arrogant but in the TPP he turns into captain Ahab especially as he feels like he died with his soldiers on motherbase 9 years ago and lives only for revenge but him trying to hang onto his humanity is genuinely interesting and his relationship with big boss is amazing and gets more depth with The phantom pain towards the end of the game he admits to big boss he was right all along and that he talks about how foolish it was to obsess over revenge as it costed him everything in the process only to be betrayed in the post credits scene by big boss Kaz spent 9 years of his life rebuilding motherbase only to be met by a body double when Kaz found this out he spiraled into an inferno of hatred and bitter anger eventually destroying everything he built in mg2 solid snake. Quiet: I really like how she starts off as chiper agent sent to kill big boss and was infected with the vocal cord parasite that’s why she doesn’t speak but throughout the game she gets more and more exposure to the band of mercenaries and begins to even fall in love with big boss only to sacrifice herself in the end to save his life which is the polar opposite of what she was sent to do. Venom snake: Big boss’s best solider a medic from peace walker that was used and thrown away by big boss himself mirroring how the boss was used and thrown away by her country shows how much of a hypocrite he has become Venom snake is a part of the player but he is his own character as well through dialogue and facial expressions and beautifully visually stunning cutscenes like when Venom brings home child soldiers and gives them a life free from war while in peace walker Big boss does the complete opposite recruiting Chico for Msf or when Venom saves quiet instead of killing her or having to gun down every single solider at motherbase and instead of letting them go into the heartless sea he makes them into diamond and Carries them into battle. I also like the Paz storyline as Venom feels he’s responsible for Paz’s death so in TPP he creates a phantom of her in the symbol she was meant to be a symbol of peace but throughout the game her memory starts to crack and you see her in the ward pulling a bomb out of her chest and start to fall back it’s revealed she was never saved and Venoms mind is broken he grabs an imaginary butterfly but as he opens his hand it disappears showing that Paz is truly gone. Paz is another good character but I kind gave you the gist of her my final reason why The Phantom pain is the best story in mgs to me is the 1. mature tones the game tackles 2. the lack of boring exposition that is relegated to tapes instead of me just sitting there watching some bitch to talk for 40 minutes then die immediately after 3. It gives weight to the world of metal gear and finally ties the solid and big boss trilogy together.

Damn. I just realized that. There's so much care into it too. All the angles, all the movements that have to be animated. And not to mention, some cutscenes are interactable. Movies don't even touch games when it comes to telling a fully fleshed-out story.

I remember playing this, I'd waited like everyone else for ages. I thought it was a brilliant kind of tour-de-metal gear. It ties all the games up to that point(except the multiple big boss thing) together and if you played them all like me, it was just super exciting. Going back to shadow moses was one of my best gaming experiences ever. It was literally like I'd been there before when I was younger. Genius.
@Mgsfan-uz4pg2 жыл бұрын
So they did actually explain that, unfortunately it wasn't here. Essentially with the first two metal gear games. The first big boss you kill is the man who was running mother base in five. In metal gear two, it was the real big boss who was then put into a comatose state. At least that's what I've been told.

funny thing about this whole series is that Liquid, Big Boss and Ocelot are actually the good guys trying to free humanity from The Patriots control. Snake and Otacon are just pawns for The Patriots. Doing whatever they are told, without really knowing what the real mission is... The "PLAYER" is getting played into thinking they are the hero, while we are fighting for the powers that control us... Fucking Kojima. Konami will forever look back at how they treated Kojima as the moment in time that the lost relevancy in the gaming landscape. Kojima should be running Konami right now.
@purplepioneer56445 жыл бұрын
Cutz McVascular Fuck Konami forever for how they treated Kojima and frankly all of their IP. That being said, by the time Liquid is in control I don’t feel that they are fighting for good. No Mother Base, no haven for soldiers; their aim is to become, or rather, take control of the systems the Patriots created. By this point, they just wanted to replace the king, not destroy him.

I don't think you understood what Big Boss's goal was for the world. His ideal was similar to The Patriots, only difference is that soldiers are free from any nations or ideologies or systems of control. He wanted to monopolize military power, and as such, rule the world. Solid Snake and the rest were pawns that failed to complete the Patriots mission. The AI is destroyed, there's no more control of information, ideas, and emotional reactions to such things. They set everyone free. So yeah, the player played the good guy. In MGS5, we're actually playing the bad guy, and it's very obvious we're playing a bad guy; who's just trying to get back at another bad guy.

Are you implying there's something wrong with MGRR?
@ChiefJudge5 жыл бұрын
@@Superdarkcloud666 Nah, just another production made from Konami itself for money. Standard. But its not a canon to the story, Hideo Kojima didnt make it, he created another ending for Raiden and this Konami creation is simply NOT canon.
@Superdarkcloud6665 жыл бұрын
@@ChiefJudge People like you have bastardized the word "canon". So naturally it means nothing coming from your mouth. The inference being that MGRR IS canon, always has been canon, and is awesome as Hell, so get over it. And if Kojima not being involved means you can't appreciate it, stop worshiping Phantom Pain, because they used that as an excuse to fire him.
@ChiefJudge5 жыл бұрын
@@Superdarkcloud666 Phantom Pain was unfinished product, nothing to be praised. Ppl could enjoy MGR gameplaywise why not, I personally dont like gameplay but that is meaningless to the arguments. MG storyline was created by H. Kojima and he made closure to Raiden story in MGS4. Konami created another game because it is whole purpose of company, nothing strange and bad about that. However creating new game with new storyline ignoring main artist and his concept of game/universe makes this new game non canon by definition. I also dont know about "ppl like me" you reffer to, im simply stating obvious facts.

To play this game you need: - Lots of free time. - Patience. - See it like a movie where you interact in between. - Let go the controller in cutscenes. - Don´t have a GF/BF. Do you agree?

Cícero B. I grew up with MGS. Seeing my favorite franchise grow older with me was what made it pull on my heart strings that much harder. Seeing Shadow Moses abandoned and derelict... Hearing Snake saying "Just like old times" upon acquiring the socom... playing MGS1 in the intro portion... The game reduced me to tears and still does to this day.
