Kei Likes Playing Again | Oblivion Battery Episode 12 Reaction

is a story about a famous baseball battery consisting of the genius pitcher Haruka Kiyomine and skilled catcher Kei Kaname who was also known as the "General." During their senior league days, they were talented enough to not only win, but also crush the hopes and dreams of many junior high school players that they played against. However, Kaname lost his memory and the two entered Kotesashi High School, a no-name public high school. In the same school, they meet several talented players who had quit baseball after playing against them in junior high. This is a story of their coming together in a newly established baseball club to play baseball again.

Actually, not entirely. Regarding Kei’s amnesia, the animation only talks about the most superficial part. After the end of the first season, you can start from Chapter 31 of the manga. spoiler warning . . . . . Kei is a very strong person, and this level of pressure alone would not cause him to collapse into what he is now. The content of animation ep12 is more like saying that some of the actions of Kei in the present are things that Kei in the past wanted to do but couldn't do.

I love how the Duo didn't just "Win" against their opponents; they destroyed players carriers. They obliterated them. Haruka only sees it from afar and only follow Kei's orders and guidance, but Kei is up and close with the same players whose confidence and careers they destroyed. It's very personal and he takes full responsibility for both his and Harukas actions. Which is why he said "Their faces hunt him". There's so much good visual storytelling in this show it's ridiculous. From watching the first 3 episodes I just didn't expect how good this show was written, directed and animated. I don't think it's the best thing ever and it's definitely not for everyone, but it's the definition of "Hidden Gem" and "Don't jusdge a book by its cover". Also no, he didn't lose his memory because of an anime or just because he hated what playing baseball became to him; they're just their to show everything he wanted to be and do if he didn't play Baseball they way he used to or didn't play it at all. Which is what his characteristics and actions after amnesia became almost everything he wished they were like with characters in the anime he watched.

Great !(happy ............ :Kei in future said that at this moment was " Found to be" fun and "End up repeating the same thing".... DIdn't read the manga or anything but I feel like that wasn't when he lost his memories like he watched the anime one night and the next day he woke up not remembering anything. If we go back to ep 1 when Haruka was visiting Kei at the hospital, Kei had some bandages wrapped around his head, so I feel like it's definitely some sort of injury that happened during their off season or maybe after the matches were over, because if it was something that happened during team practice, there's no way Haruka would've come in flowers and all after Kei was awake. So they might've been apart/ did not see eo for a while, hence the flowers? maybe? idk it's just some things that i observed. Also ppl from other schools would've been aware of Kei getting admitted into the hospital. Otherwise ppl wouldn't be assuming that Kei is currently going through a 'slump', instead they would've thought 'oh that's right he was in the hospital i heard, might be injuries'. I digress but i feel like Kei watching that shoujo anime might've been during the competition season bcuz from the way he talked of the anime it felt like something he did on impulse while he started to feel tired of baseball, like how he talked abt the losing and winning stuff that happens sm in baseball but a he envies the freedom of other school students who don't need to worry abt all that

Also another theory; Kei clearly disliked baseball as a kid but maybe he's actually the biggest fan + cares of Haruka a lot. We can see in the ending theme animation (IF it's related to the series in any way) that some ppl seem to see Haruka has a talent in pitching and were being scary (?) so Kei was there to 'protect' him ig? Or take him away from the greediness of the adults? Ofc Kei prolly knows of Haruka's talent as well. If Kei quit baseball, Haruka would've quit too, seeing how meek and obedient Haruka looks as a kid from wtvr childhood flashabacks we saw. But Kei would've been a huge fan of Haruka's pitching/ him playing baseball to not quit, especially since haruka tells him how he wants to play baseball with Kei a few times. Thus why Kei stating multiple times that he wants to make Haruka the best pitcher in Japan.

@@Shibanago after the season was over, I read the manga! i enjoy baseball animes a lot so just felt like there might be similar stereotypes or dynamics like the other baseball animes! like friendship and that sense of comradery that is also presnt in other sports animes~ also rewatched those episodes like crazy because I REALLY liked where the story was headed to

I didn't like volleyball outside of watching my gf play, I never cared about baseball in my life cause I think it's boring. Haikyuu and ObliBattery just changed my mind for sports anime
