In the early 60s my brother and I used to play in the wooded grounds to the back of the school near Brucehill , they were happy days and it's sad to see this building getting into such a sorry state. Thanks for the memories Ms Bluecat

Clever you for filming this for posterity. What a mixture of emotions came from watching this, ghosts from the past and a recognition that George Harrison was right when he said "All Things Must Pass." Thank you fondly for your labour of love and going to the trouble of recording a little chunk of my and others history.

I went from 1990-96, I did not know about the fire until I went to see the building today. it was quite shocking to see the state of it, and quite upsetting as well as it was a great school and I have very happy memories of the place. Such a shame.

Loved the video. Sorry to see this great old building being left to rot. I'm amazed the Stained Glass Window is still intact.

My Dad Andrew Mitchell from Lakeside, Loch Awe, Argylshire studied at the school approx 1938. It's so very sad to see the school in such a delapitated state after so much history.

Lochan175? I was there in 75 as well, but not as a pupil, my father was the caretaker there 75/76, fond old memories of the place. Passing by there in March so gonna pop in to see the old place. Anyone know what happened to the statue on the front lawn?? Cant remember what it was for but I still have a picture of me with our 2 dogs in front of it. Found our old bungalow where the old main entrance was. ......

Its amazing how in only 9 short years it managed to end up in this state! That was weird watching that. Keil holds a load of amazing memories for me so strange to see it in that disorder! Stu Sutcliffe

Hi Stu, your name sounds familiar. Which years were you in Keil? I was there from September 1971 to July 1973 when I sat for my Scottish Highers

I recall the day too when Mr McDonald (Wee Eye) cut his finger off on the lathe and went as white as a porcelain doll. Many vomited....and also went spectacularly white too.

@yellowpolkabikini My memories must be fading now. The English teacher with the bassett hound was Bill Anderson? I thought he was one of the better teachers there. Was Wee Eye not the technical drawing/woodwork teacher? "Methodical methodical methodical" Also remember Messrs Benton (Chemistry) Coll (Physics) McNeill (Maths) Celli (Technical) Tauber ? (French?) Was he the one who was killed in a climbing accident?

Sad to see the building in such a state. Was there 1961-1962. Worst year of my life half a world away from home. Taught me you need to be fairly tough to be a Scotsman in that climate. Dreadful food. Cruel deputies. Forever getting the peich and NH. That B... deputy Graham. Yes I remember you! Still I don't regret it. Visited for a look in 2000 just after it closed already in a poor state then.

@lodesman1 Guggs Graham? I remember him all too well. I was lucky enough to do just a year (1970-1971) before getting a far higher standard of education at Paisley Grammar School

Bill Anderson was succeeded by Mr Haldane who was a considerate and very good English teacher, imho. Right on all the other counts, except not sure about Willie Tauber who died climbing on the Dover Hills, fell into the Straits of Dover and his body was missing for a good while. I recall Mr Graham (Gugs) making the solemn announcement at assembly at the start of the Winter term around 1973-4?

How anyone can view their time at Keil as good times if they were there prior to the mid 1980's is beyond me. From what I here it was just a culture of bullying both physical and mental.

@@cccc-xl3vr Totally agree, was there 91-94, bad school. Some very good teachers like Mrs Duncan, the art teacher. But mostly terrible teachers, that allowed bullying and sexual abuse.
