Conned? Anyone who was remotely conscious knew exactly what Labour would do. They are straight up Marxists and It's not as if they hid it. It's simply a matter of everyone staying at home and not voting at all. The Tories stopped being conservative a long time ago, purged actual conservatives, and became nothing more than a mid tier center-left party. Droves upon droves of people decided to stay home. The Tories got exactly what they had coming for delivering the nation to the globalist left and the nation ended up with Marxist government as a result. Perhaps someday, the British people will bother to show up to vote AND stop voting for leftists. Unfortunately, both of those conditions will have to be met at the same time. Is it possible?

The 20 billion 'black hole' as Labour put it is completely fictitious. The OBR has stated that all pertinent data and information was available to them before the general election, and Labour said they had a fully costed plan. Starmer will gloss over it because he is a narcissist and so full of himself he wouldn't believe the figures anyway . This isn't about any political parties in my view . They know this petition will be ignored, it's their way of expressing their disappointment. He quite openly in an interview, when asked said he would choose Davos over Great Britain. That says it all. He's gone for the poorer people, people who voted for him. He'a by his own admission and affiliations Communist. When you research his history and the people he has represented pro bono, it shows a very grim picture of his inner workings and the lack of empathy for survivors of horrific acts. If this country survives WW3 they are getting us involved in, food and economic crisis, let's revisit this in 12 months and see if these petition signers were right or wrong.

"False advertising" in the retail world which borders fraud. I'm retail you have a right to return something that isn't as described at the point of sale. If the people can't threaten to kick out a destructive government in a timely manner before they destroy everything, were doomed I tell you. Doomed!

He's right though - we don't have "do-overs" when it comes to democratic exercises. There wasn't a "do-over" of the 2016 Brexit referendum, despite many calling for one. Rightly, the referendum result was upheld - and so should the result of the 2024 election be upheld until the next election.
@gregstarandgoff28153 күн бұрын
Why not? Surely is someone lies in their manifesto and goes back on what key pledges there is some argument for misleading voters?
@jacobesterson3 күн бұрын
@@MS-19 He's only right if you believe that the system works, but it clearly doesn't. First-past-the-post has been widely recognised as a terrible method of voting for hundreds of years. It's gotten so bad that as a result of record low voter turnout, we're currently governed by a party that was only voted for by roughly 33% of the British public. That is, by definition, undemocratic.
@bobbyscombover3 күн бұрын
Yep he did...there is another petition for a referendum to change the current voting system to Proportional Representation ...this one is more important imo

Then he should apply that rhetoric to his lying party - they are in breach of their manifesto and misled the public! So the system is corrupted further by these morons!

@clairee49393 күн бұрын
Nothing much I’m afraid because 19 million of us didn’t vote for Labour in the first place. At best 20 million signatures would worry them but it still does not mean that they’d necessary lose an election. In 2992 Labour actually received more votes than the Tories. We may well be heading for another hung parliament as in 2010 at this rate.

According to Starmer he is not worried and thinks its only none Labour voters signing the petition (ITV interview on 24/11). If only it would reach in excess of 10 million he would then have to realise that some Labour voters had signed too. Hopefully the number of signatures keeps growing as its the only visible way the electorate can register their discontent with what the government are doing since they got in.

We all knew going in that the result will not be a GE. I signed it to give him a PR issue and at best a U turn on maybe something… like the winter fuel for the elderly. We’ve strayed from dangerously short sighted, to incompetent to dangerously incompetent governance since 1997. It feels like we’ve just not had a period of calm, peaceful steady growth hardly at all. It’s just depressing as hell.

Exactly - focus on the fundamental right to oppose the government. Speak the issues only in private and only to trusted persons. It's a pity that you have to go there. If the government attempts criminalizing private speech: it will need to employ spies and informants to do so. At that point, all pretense to living in a free society is obviously lost. Not gonna say what's beyond that.
