I looked up who employs him. He is appointed by the king. The last king to have a PM removed (EArl Grey) was William IV in 1834. The opposition did not have a viable replacement so the Whigs had Earl Grey reinstated and he pushed forward legislation the king did not aggree with. Later he resigned and the Torys still did not have a viable replacement . The moral of that story, I guess is, Other parties, keep up your membership and garner popularity by having an emergency manifesto ready and waiting incase this person is directed to resign by the king.
