Alberto Ginastera was one of South America's most prominent composers of the twentieth century. Barbara worked with Ginastera and shares her passion for his music in this portrait and master class. Ginastera's final work, the Third Sonata, was written for Barbara, and in the second disc she presents a master class on all three sonatas, as well as his earlier popular Danzas Argentinas, and includes complete performances of these masterpieces. Also included are interviews with the composer, his wife and daughter, as well as an interview with conductor Leonard Slatkin about his final orchestral work, the Popol Vuh, and interviews with the late Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake & Palmer and the late jazz pianist Chick Corea.
