I was there. What the Lord has been laying on my heart is to return to our 1st Love, repent and do the works that we did before. Being filled with the Holy Spirt and abiding in the love, and joy of our salvation through Jesus! Rev 2:4-5. In 1978 I was 19 and so on fire for Jesus, and now He is renewing that fire for the gospel in me. Praise be to our Lord an Savior Jesus Christ!

A Calvary Chapel pastor told me that a lot of major revivals happen when the older women who love the Lord start praying for fervently for revival. Keith Green's music spoke to me as a young teen and cut through the commercialism of Christian music of the day. I dedicated my life to Christian service, partly inspired by him. His words still ring for me 40 years later, "The only difference between the sheep and the goats is what they did or did not do!" We are not saved by good works, but we were saved for good works! Our lives should bear the wonderful fruit that Keith's life showed. We should love God passionately and without reserve! I am a poor and broken vessel of God's love, but He is faithful. Thank you Keith. To God be the glory!

Way back then when I was in high school, my sister subscribed for Last Days Ministries Magazine and Keith's Cassettes. I listened to every one of them! singing them out and knowing the lyrics by heart. His songs shaped my relationship with God. Am glad that such a person ever lived, because his life touched mine. I can say the same thing, Shelar Oshin...I too was subscribed to Last Days Ministries Magazine and listened to/memorized every song that Keith sang. They touched my heart and spoke volumes to me, I felt closest to Jesus in 1980's when I first listened, and it takes me back there to hear it now.

I recently discovered Keith..well, a few years ago my wife showed me a song of his (Your Love Broke Through) and I listened and liked it. I didn't listen to him for years until "Lord You're Beautiful" came up randomly on a KZbin thread and played it on the way to work one morning. I wept, I mean cried like an infant child left in the streets. Yahweh's impeccable timing and another journey towards an even softer heart. Keith's body may have died in 1982, but he lives on through his ministry and only because Yeshua lives. What a heart the Father blessed him with and used it to soften ours. Praise our beautiful Creator, Savior and Friend!!!

I was going to write how much Keith's heart was like David's, though later in coming around, and so much earlier in moving on to glory with Jesus. A heart to face down Goliath and those who laugh at the Lord's army, and to quickly repent when faced with his own failures. May we seek the Agape Love that filled the hearts of such servants - with the admonition to leave all selfish ambitions and preconceived notions about how God should use you, and instead surrender everything (including who you are, what you have, and what you expect in your life) to Jesus, so He can do what HE wants to with the rest of your life. I was a counselor for Keith at one of his performances. I was so blessed by the experience of being in the Civic Center in the afternoon while Keith was doing a sound test. He just got into his worship. He played some songs not on any album, and I've never heard them since. He was real and genuine and was convicted by his faith. When he died in '82 I cried and grieved as if he was a relative. But, him being taken so young just shows that he already completed God's purpose for his life. Thank you so much for this wonderful tribute video. You have blessed many hearts!

I was working as a young sound tech at his Sacramento, CA concert at the Memorial Building and was the guy who gave Keith my clean t-shirt to wrap his bloody fingers in- he had been playing the piano so intense that his finger tips were bleeding. As noted below in my reply to Gary, I attended both of Keith's concerts at Northeastern Bible College as a student at NBC. I was a counselor at the concerts. I wasn't into contemporary Christian music at the time as I didn't care for the quality. Having come from the world of Rock many of the Christian artists of the day did not come across as very professional to me. As a result, when I saw Keith sitting at his piano I assumed this wasn't going to be much of a concert. Wrong! About 30 seconds into it I was amazed by the lyrics, music, vocals and most of all, his intensity. He exploded with intensity as a live performer. His concerts had a profound impact on my life. To this day, I praise the Lord for allowing me the opportunity to take part in the concerts that I had no interest in attending.

Thank you for putting this together..I went to see him at the civic center in Philadelphia not knowing he died in plane crash. Melanie honored the tour for Jesus commands us to Go album..it was his final message , that we should all first seek to find God's will, at the time I thought of going into missions, I remember my dad flipping out ..not till I finished pharmacy school..anyway I finished school and never got into missions, however now at 65 I'm praying for doors to open to do just that..I remember the groups Lamb,2nd chp of acts,imperials,Phil keagy, randy matthews,Petra..got saved at 15 in 74, saw a lot of these groups in concert, the Jesus 76 ,77,78etc shows and revivals..the assembly of God church became very popular for young teens..they were great years ,have never stopped walking with Lord , just stay on knees and keep confessing your short comibgs..comings. He will never ever leave you..after all He first drawed you to Him, it took me years to finally believe He really loves me unconditionally.. remember we are all His favorite..He's that BIG...don't buy the devils lie. Just what I needed (again).❤ Thank you so much. I was working as a summer missionary in Colorado, and while in a park with some children, I got the news about the plane crash. I grieved for months. Last days Ministries campus was a short drive away from my College, so my friends and I would pile into the car and go to their Wednesday night Bible study. Keith and his music still echoes on through eternity, comforting and inspiring the flock of Jesus (especially this lamb.)

I listen to his songs back in the 80's. Even memorized several of them and sung it at church. His songs moved me and gave me messages I needed to hear. Jesus lives inside of Keith's heat and songs even now. Praise God in the Highest!!

I'll tell everybody what he was like. Back in the 70's, I went to see him at Northeastern Bible College in Essex Fells, NJ. It was a fairly cold night, and 5000 people showed up but the auditorium could only fit half that amount. Keith said no problem, we'll just have a second concert! Amazing! We waited for the second one and he played well into the night. A memory I'll never forget.

+George Burgess - Gary, I was at both the concerts at Northeastern. I was a student at NBC at the time and volunteered as a counselor for the concerts. I had never heard of Keith Green and had little interest in hearing him. My primary interest was to help others in terms of counsel. When Keith sat down at his piano, sadly I thought to myself, that this wasn't going to be much of a concert, a single guy playing the piano. About 30 seconds into the concert I was amazed by what I was hearing. The most memorable part of the concert wasn't the music. Rather, it was when Keith said to the crowd that if they wanted a record and they didn't have the money with them to take a record and send the ministry the money when they could, and if they didn't have the money and could not afford to pay take a record and enjoy it as a gift. At that moment I thought, this guy is the real deal--Christ's ministry first! I was working at WFME Radio as an announcer the night the AP reported that he had died. I was preparing to do the news when the announcement came up on the teletype printer. And even though WFME didn't play his music at the time, they allowed me to put together and air a short tribute to him. A truly one of a kind person and minister of Christ. My heart continues to ache at the thought of his passing. Yet I rejoice that he is with Christ now.

KZbin it, and as you hear the piano on a song like New Jerusalem, you'll recognize it as him immediately. The man had a very unique style of playing, and he was a true master of the instrument. He went to the freewill offering for his material, because he didn't want anyone to not have the records just because they couldn't afford them. I loved the direction his music was going in before he died, and was devastated the day he and the others died in the plane crash. The first song of his I heard after he died was Holy, Holy, Holy, and I cried like a baby Then not long after that I went to a Phil Keaggy concert at Northeastern, and before Phil sang "Let Everything Else Go," of course just he HAD to dedicate the song by simply uttering the words, "This is for Keith." Again I cried, but this time joy was mixed in with the tears, because I thought of how happy Keith must be in the presence of his Lord. I didn't idolize him, but I loved him for how my heart had been moved time and time again by the music he wrote. Ironically, I had tickets to see him at the old Meadowlands Arena for a concert that was to take place just a few weeks after his passing. God makes no mistakes, though, and what a legacy we have in the music he gave us. Speaking of WFME, it's interesting you mention that. Art Thompson went to the same church I did, and my sister Cindy Metzger worked there for a while. I knew them all, Charlie M, Les, Anita K, etc. Loved your post George.....:)

There are many videos on the web of Keith preaching. I've never known another person who was as SOLD OUT to Christ. How many do what Jesus told us to do? The money he made in donations at his concerts housed and fed people, and also supplied free tracts for people like me who wanted to distribute them, but couldn't afford to do so. Thanks so much for going to all the work to put this together. I was fortunate enough to see Keith in person three or four times, it was an experience I will never forget. Nothing was more important to him than sharing the Gospel and yes, he was a radical for Jesus. There were times when he would reprimand the audience for clapping, because he felt the message of the songs were so important that he didn't want anything to distract from that message I really believe that there is not, nor has there ever been, a Christian artist who has captured the heart of God like Keith Green. He had a passion and a boldness for the Gospel that very few Christians have. I believe if we all had that same passion for the things of God the "job" would be done. Keith was taken from us way too early, but God's timing is perfect and why he was taken at such a young age we will only understand when we meet Christ face to face in heaven. But it is wonderful that Keith, through his music, is still touching lives and winning the lost for Christ. We all could do well to be more like Keith Green.....but Keith would say, NO, be like Christ!

Keith thought Jesus was coming soon in 79 now 2020. Must admit i like his songs. He went from go go go to "When I hear the praises start" That seem's the way we grow, from hype to knowing it's finished at/on the cross to understanding it's really Jesus life in us in His resurrection that is True Life. Growth is a journey for sure. i myself went from 3 jail terms and a addict to being a missionary in India. As Paul prayed, "we would Know the power that is at work in us." Love ya's!

My thoughts exactly! Keith's music and story are an answer to my prayers. After years in church and serving my heart was becoming dull and I knew that I needed to cry out so I did. The Holy spirit reminded me of King David's Psalm 51 and I had an urge to sing it out so I looked and found Keith's beautiful worship which sparked the flame in my heart all the more intensely. Thank God for this faithful servant I am once again on fire for The Word of God. Thank you Jesus for all that you do.

Keith Greens music does the same to me. He had such a pure spirit in the music he wrote and had a REAL compassion for the lost. I think Keith Green had at least two albums out when I saw him perform three different times in Eugene Oregon two times were at the Christian Life Center was a massive Church that I attended and one time was at the University of Oregon out on a beautiful sunny day out on the grass I'm 66 years old and I can still remember the songs but more than that the message in between his songs pure excitement for the life that Jesus had given him I can't recall if I met him personally but I still felt a personal connection to this man the pastor at Christian Life Center tragically died in a plane crash 2 I know that there were a lot of Christian singers and artists in the 80s but Keith Green had such a gift and talent but such a love for people and such a love for Jesus you know when you see somebody and they just glow when you just imagine in your mind that that person probably knows God in a personal way if anybody had any memories of those concerts in Eugene Oregon give me an amen thank you brother Keith Green another thing to look forward to when I get to heaven maybe a another personal concert and maybe a hug
