Fall of 1988, I go to this bible study at my friends house. There is this girl there and we start talking. I tell her I play the piano and she asked me if I knew any songs by Keith Green, I gave her a coy smile and said "Pick one" hoping she picked one of the four I could actually play. She asked if I knew "Your love broke through" which I did. That girl liked Keith Green, Piano players and the Raiders, and we have been married for 30 years.

@@bearkiels9032 My Aunt and Uncle lived in Costa Mesa California right in the middle of the Southern California Jesus Movement. My Uncle tells the story of going to Chuck Smith's Calvary chapel and there was some wild hair hippie beating a piano to death. My brother brought back Keith's album in 1977 to our house. The 8 track in our Chevy Monte Carlo had 2 tapes Andre Crouch and Keith Green.

I mixed sound for Keith at Calvary Chapel San Diego North Park in the late '70s. My sweetie walked forward that Wednesday night. Married for 45 years. Went to Christian Night at Disneyland and as we were exiting Keith was playing and we were all praising God. When he finished and we looked around, the crowd was massive. They were already marshaling people out as it went overtime... but it was sooo awesome worshipping at D-Land. Went to Keith's last concert at Jesus West Coast in '80s and a few weeks later was sobbing at my workbench as I listened to KBRT. Rich Buehler announced Keith and others crashed... they sent me home and my sweetie was sobbing. We sat there with our girls and cried. Just a couple weeks later we heard that Melody Green was going to be in San Pedro welcoming the Mercy Ship, Anastasis. It was just an hour south of us and went there with our four small children. The crowd was massive and we're singing praise songs and the crew on the ship was singing back with us... chilling. After the dedication of the ship to the ministry for Christ we were able to tour the ship. We saw a daycare and school, radio room, mess (dining in ship-speak)... we realized that WE could use our skills as missionary support! Wow! In 1987, following Keith's missionary call,, we traveled to Waxhaw, NC to Jungle Aviation and Radio Service (JAARS) for training as a communication/avionics tech and went through TX and stopped at Last Days ministry. Went to the graveside and cried again. Every album paralleled our life as Christians... except "So You Want to Go Back to Egypt". We spent 6 years serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators/ JAARS in the Philippines. I was the Communications Manager of three centers and my sweetie taught 1st and 2nd grades. It was Keith's dream to motivate young people to the mission field, and after his death thousands did just that... similarly to the late 50s after five missionaries were martyred by those they were praying to reach. Both were impetus for missions. After spending 10 weeks on a ventilator and 4 in rehab, these songs, and those of the early Calvary Chapel movement, echo constantly in my mind and heart. May God bless you with this - one of thousands - stories of how Keith Green's life and death was used mightily by God.

I was inspired by Keith & Melody Green and LDM as a young Christian in the 80's. I'm from the San Franando Valley also. After reading Melody's book I learned that we were both in the same Buddist cult but in different parts of LA. I was going to go to Texas to get training for missions but God told me "No. Your mission field is your own back yard!" So I guess that's how I got started in homeless ministry, and LDM & his music were a very big part of my life back then.😊✡️✝️🤞

+RonSafreed All nonsense. Keith wasn't murdered! He died along with 11 others in a plane crash. If someone wanted to murder him, why would they also kill the pilot and a family of 8, plus Keith's 2 tottlers?!! Ya know, that's exactly how unfounded rumors get passed sround. Even IF there were no bodies, it would have been because the plane blew up in a cloud of fire from the impact But there were bodies...all 12 of them died. The bible says that gossip (rumors) is a sin. The reason Keith Green and the rest of them died is because that's when God took them. We all have an appointment with desth. Some of us die very young, some in accidents, some in old age, and some out of self - inflicted stupidity like alcohol/drug overdose, some by suicide, etc. God already knows when each of us will die and He knew it at the beginning of time, long before we were even born. So please stop with untrue remarks. If your statements are true, then please post your source, Until then, I will believe the truth.
@YurLord9 жыл бұрын
+Aspieman Aspergers The Scripture says that every good and perfect gift comes from our Father in heaven. I promise you that he never desires to see any of his precious children abused and murdered. Our Father has never caused these things to happen but he has sent the solution to the cause of all this wickedness. When Jesus took the cross for you and I, he provided the Love Solution for our willfully wicked hearts (Mark 7:20-23).  The truth is that all of the motivations of God's heart towards us have been displayed for us in everything Jesus did and said while he was among us. In light of this reality we can see that he does not approve of anything evil or wicked because he is holy and pure. So he sent the innocent man Jesus to be guilty in our place. Even though I was guilty of great sin in my heart, Jesus willfully chose to suffer in my place the punishment I deserved from God. The only man to ever be tempted like the rest of us but never give in became the one who God poured out his holy wrath on. This is so you and I don't have to bear God's wrath. This innocent man took our punishment so we could come to God and know him personally. God took the just punishment of evil upon himself for you and I. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.(Isaiah 53:4-6)

Even today in my late 30’s Keith’s worship to the Lord brings me back and grounds me. I am so grateful for his heart for the Lord and the talents God have him. He was the real deal. His powerful nature and spirit, Christ given of course, spoke to me and fortified me as a young and growing Christian. His music speaks to me today as it did then, and today with the contrast of what Christian music is out there, I have to say... His Christian credibility is unmatched. These new singers-- 97% just do not have it from their core to be breathing Gods words in to what their bodies are manifesting. Keith did this. I am so thankful to Claudia Thomas (who at the time resided on Calais Rd. in Mendham, NJ who was a 'friend' of my Mom's) she was a Christian like very few I had ever met (this is in April, 1980) She lit a fire in me to be real about my faith. I went to church with her and her family.... Felt a bit odd because it was so charismatic-- Not like the Presbyterian church I was going to-- which too was Christian, I do not fault that church... But for the dynamic nature of faith being expressed through daily life... WOW, the kind of Christianity called for by Keith to be a sincere follower of Christ, Claudia Thomas had it. When I went away to college for my last two years to UNC Charlotte, I met a girl, Laura Johnson. We ended up dating, but she brought me a Keith Green cassette for my car, so I could listen to him (I didn't have a personal anything to play the tape, just my player in my car... We weren't so spoiled like we are today back then)... His music spoke to me like nothing else ever had. Today it is no different. I put on his music and in no time tears. Tears that say, wash yourself and go out in the day and be there for people in your path. Be there to hug, and make people feel His REAL love! So, I do. It's awesome.

I’m so blessed to have heard him live when i was 14… i met him and he prayed with me, individually, along with anyone else asking for prayer. I witnessed Jesus that night. So rare in today’s “industrial” Christian performers.

I grew up in church, got saved young but this song touched my heart when I was 15, and made me weep for joy knowing how much Jesus loved me, after hearing it and many more songs of Keith Green it made me want to read my bible, to know the scripture the songs were based off of. I also subscribed to his newsletter which was like a small magazine, written about the things happen today and how you deal as a christian…..it was NOT churchianity…. It was REAL and Honest and encouraging to me to further seek God and know Him….I am so grateful to Keith Green ministries and their articles….and I can’t wait to hear his new music in heaven one day when we will be with our savior, Jesus worshipping ✨

Keith hit it right on the button!! I was lost in my own intellect until I realized I needed Jesus. He was that missing part my heart needed. I woke up to find Him looking at me with His loving eyes and right through my heart. I was only 18 years old at the time, thirty years ago!! I've never been the same since then. Man's intellect blinds us from understanding God's simple ways. Amen!!!

To me Keith was the greatest Christian Music star of all time and he was only 28 when he was taken from us. He was so gifted and talented and we never got to see all of his talent and we were robbed of the future music that he would have made. He is making music in Heaven now

I heard this on the radio the other day and it brought back the days of my conversion and I cried because it reminded me of how much I was excited about my new relationship with Jesus. I have had such an up and down time with the Lord over the years. A song like this can inspire and challenge to pursue Jesus More. Where else can we go to get the words of Life!

Like a foolish dreamer trying to build a highway to the sky All my hopes would come tumbling down And I never knew just why Until today, when you pulled away the clouds That hung like curtains on my eyes Well I've been blind all these wasted years And I thought I was so wise But then you took me by surprise Like waking up from the longest dream, how real it seemed Until your LOVE broke through I've been lost in a fantasy, that blinded me Until your LOVE broke through All my life I've been searching for that crazy missing part And with one touch, you just rolled away The stone that held my heart And now I see that the answer was as easy As just asking you in And I am so sure I could never doubt Your gentle touch again It's like the power of the wind Like waking up from the longest dream, how real it seemed Until your LOVE broke through I've been lost in a fantasy, that blinded me Until your LOVE broke through

His music was just what I needed to grow and mature very fast for the situation I was in during my early teens. I am yet to meet or see anyone with his passion not just for real CHRISTIAN music (not what the Companies are pushing on us) but for the lost.

I think it was back in 1976 when I would drive with my girlfriend to Keith and Melody’s house for a bible study he had each week in his living room. I can’t remember how I found out about it. That’s how I heard about the Vineyard and eventually the Christian nightclub, The Daisy. Such an amazing time back in my college days. He had such gifts: piano, personality, and testimony.

+Aaron Harford let me share this with you! JC is coming back soon to rule this world for the "Millenium"! This is why there is the modern nation of Isreal today, because when JC comes back He will go to Jerusalem & land back on the Mount of Olives east of Jerusalem(the same place He ascended to heaven 2000 years ago)! 1948--- prophecy fulfillment of Isreal becoming a nation, 1967--- prophecy fulfillment of Isreal regaining control of Jerusalem! Other unfulfilled prophecies, Jerusalem becoming their capital, a third temple being built(all pieces are ready in storage now)! A final holocost against the Jews in which two-thirds die worldwide & in Isreal! The remnant third will come to accept JC as Yeshua/Messiah! something they should have done as a nation 2000 years ago but did not but soon will! That is when He will come back also with His holy angels & resurrected saints (humans that lived & died back to life) However they will be in a higher state, not mortal but immortal in a state of divinity & glorification!!!! (Think about superman/superwoman & what they are able to do) This explains these folk! That dude satan & his cohorts(fallen-angels & demons) will no longer rule this world "god of this world" but now JC is "GOD" of this world, not "god" of this world satan has been for thousands of years! Aaron this is a "blessed hope" (future expectation) of many Christians! The Millenium will be a time of peace/health/prosperity/freedom/opportunity like ever before in human history! BTW people will start living longer & longer lives like once before many thousands of years ago! Women will become more beautiful & men more handsome less aging & a much more graceful aging in later life!!!! Think about these things a Christian has written you & thank you !!!!!!

This song takes me back to freshman year of high school, when I would ride the bus to school every morning. I would listen to this song, and other songs by Keith Green. I remember feeling like the world was so hostile at that time, especially since it was right after 9/11. And I felt like God was the only hope and comfort, the only answer to the madness all around me. I had the impulse to listen to this song tonight, probably for the first time in 15 years or so. I forgot how much it meant to me! It was like a hug from God. For many years I think I had forgotten what it was like to see God as a loving Father, and only recently have I started coming around on this.

If you haven't watched Keith's story, do so. Yahweh implanted a passion and zeal in him that, we as believers, should exhibit daily. Keith's music encourages me and humbles me and makes me ever so thankful for Yeshua's sacrifice and love for me. I was searching for YEARS with drugs and alcohol. His love truly broke through, I now have a beautiful wife and two wonderful children. Only the love from our Messiah will keep us contempt. Prepare, He is returning.

Just today, I was driving around, listening to Keith Green. His voice reminded me of a song I heard years ago, but I had trouble remembering the words and I didn't know the name of the song. So I grabbed my phone and tried to Google the few words of the song I could recall. After about five minutes, my search failed to turn up any song. So I gave up for the time being and set my phone down. Literally a few seconds later, this song began playing. When he reached the chorus, I realized it was THE song I had been trying to find. I got teary-eyed. It was God speaking to me through the song. I really needed to hear the words to this song, not because I wanted to remember the song, but because my heart needed to hear Him speak to me. He was singing over me. I can't tell you adequately how wonderful it felt. But, I did briefly feel horrible. Horrible because earlier I had been in a rather bad mood (difficult drivers, to be kind about it). But I didn't believe He had forgiven me. I KNEW He had.

I grew up listening to Keith’s cassettes on repeat on long summer road trips. I’m still moved by the beautiful writing and meditative, Soul/R&B-inflected delivery, both vocally and on piano. And, of course, his incredible piano playing was a huge influence on me as a young aspiring musician myself. Ultimately, I chose the guitar, but I learned how to use my giftings for the Lord from Keith and other outstanding early CCM artists.
