Very humble guy. Considering that he had all the years off from wrestling, it's amazing he did as well as he did. In 1974 he captured a bronze medal at the Canada West Conference championships. For those familiar with amateur wrestling in the United States, it would be like taking third place at the Southern Conference championships or the Eastern Wrestling league. Nothing like winning the BIG 10's or the EIWA's but still one Hell of an accomplishment considering everything. It qualified him for the University Finals (like the NCAA championships here.) Pretty cool considering he hadn't wrestled in over four years up to that point.

Smith. Sounds crazy, but according to two Hart sisters (Georgia and Diana) Stu said that Smith was actually the best wrestler in the family. 🤷 His "eccentricities" (he was legit bat-shit crazy), and unwillingness to work out or train curtailed any kind of significant success he could have had. He did work for years in Puerto Rico for WWC. Also worked in Japan, Germany, England, and the Netherlands.

I am confused. Keith says " they never got to the bottom of it " It was exposed that they used a 6 lb sail boat clip not made for a 230 lb man. Is Keith the only one on the planet that does not know this ?

I think what he means is they never found out the concrete facts about how the release was triggered? Did it go off because Owen was adjusting his cape? Did it get triggered some other way? No one knows what triggered the clip to release.

@@misterslats Owen's weight triggered it. The clip was for a 6 lb pressure. If they used the same clip that WCW used for Sting, there would not have been a problem. However, I do recall Bret stating that the cape may have been caught in the clip and was not able to close proper.

It was settled out of court, thus nulling all litagation, which would have potentially proved in court what exactly happened.
