This is really the ultimate piece of music. Played by these three gentlemen it is a taste of heaven!

Мы слышим явление, восстановить которое практически невозможно в первозданном виде. Эта последовательность звёздной импровизации, которая выстраивалась в его нейронной системе, с её красотой уникальна.

I've listened to the versions by Keith, Bill Evans and Don Friedman. If you listen to only one, make it Friedman''s. Keith's has better recorded audio. Too many piano recordings put the mic into the sounding board and produce an unnatural piano sound.

Thanks to you, I've discovered the Don Friedman's version in Trio. Just for the record, I invite you to listen to the one from the album Crossing with Red Garland (Piano), Ron Carter (Bass), Philly Joe Jones (Drums) : a beauty...

This KZbin recording of the Keith Jarrett Trio does not sound at all like a professional recording. It may be a re-recorded version put on KZbin, or a bootleg recording done by an audience member wearing a cheap recorder and mic. It sounds monaural, and the mix is hideous. Bass is tubby and boomy, piano is thin and distant, and drums have no presence. No professional engineer would produce a recording like this, especially Keith's engineer Manfred Eicher, one of ECM's biggest names.

Are we limiting ourselves to strictly piano trio versions? Because, for me the vocal version by Andy Bey featuring an amazing arrangement by Geri Allen is the most startlingly affecting version of this beautiful song that I have heard and well worth adding to the rotation ( not to take anything away from the renditions you mentioned by some of my favorite pianists) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gInalJSwq9ehodE
