I understand what you're saying. My entire premise was that, regardless of the history, in Western culture the term "young turks" no longer has much relevance to the Armenian genocide. I understand that it is offensive to some, but it is not intended in that way. As for Wikipedia, that was just a source I used to quickly get a coherent definition of a modern "young turk." Normally I'd use Princeton's dictionary, or a similar publication, but I was short on time and wanted to leave a reply.

First Bill O'Reilly tried to write to Robert Wright, then made phone calls to MSNBC President Jeff Zucker, then he tried to petition to get Keith Olbermann fired and get Phil Donahue returned on Countdown, then that FOX Security episode. As The Young Turks said, O'Reilly can dish it out but can't take it. The whining sound in reference to him was perfect.

I rarely watch Bill or Keith anymore, but I gotta say that O'Reilly is the classier of the two. It seems that every time I watch 'Countdown' Olbermann is whining about Bill and FoxNews, while I've never seen O'Reilly mention Keith by name once. Granted, I don't watch either of them regularly, but it's no wonder Olbermann has such low ratings: people tune in to hear news commentary, not to get their opinions of eachother.

I wouldn't watch it if he were one sided all the time. He gives when credits due, and is not afraid to tell the truth neither. He has a team of reporters, lawyers, and investigators working for him and he has gone after many criminals, People in the medical community whom have been negligent, etc....His show attracts more people from around the world then any other commentator on TV give it a shot for one week....

This video is from 2006. Three years ago and before, Olbermann was not a crusading lefty. Also, Olbermann DID change the face of cable news, he showed that you can put left of center people on and get solid ratings. Kieth Olbermann was sportcaster for KTLA ch. 5 news and he just took over the show and had everyone laughing. Even as a kid I knew what was happening. I imagine he rubbed anchor Hal Fishman wrong, who dedicated to the reporting the news, as well. Alpha males for you. It didnt take long for him to have his own half hour sport show which was unheard of at the time.

Though I'll admit Olbermann's views come into it, and he does obviously lean left as an individual, he's not to the point where he defends negative actions on the part of democrats or left-leaning individuals, whereas O'Reilly will defend the actions of pretty much any right-wing group aside from WBC, which Fox doesn't hate for their hateful views on gay people, but for their views on America.
