Athena didn't do anything wrong by accepting her musical development and success, which was offered to her. If the others would have been wise and not led "by the green-eyed monster", they would have followed suit and allowed the company to market them led by Athena. This is how so many artists have become huge. Lionel Richard and the Commodores and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. Look how large Chaka became after she ventured from Rufus and she was large with him.

@@positivemanifestations3247 What you are explaining is actually the breakdown of Black bands which the industry intentionally did to Black groups in the ‘70s and ‘80s so they wouldn’t have to pay black musicians anymore. This, ultimately sabotaging and weakening the evolution of Black music. White bands from then to now are still together and strong, even if some members go solo, they always stay together.

I loved how elegant and classy Kut Klose came off, especially in the music video for Twisted. I'd say them and En Vogue were the queens of being sexy but extremely classy. On another note, it's depressing how many 90s acts were done so wrong by the industry and even worse so how today, many people in the industry try to act like they don't exist anymore or don't give them their flowers. You know, at first I was very saddened to hear that they need help from the public to record their second album, but after watching this video, I'm just happy that they're all alive, together, and willing to put out another project. It still saddens me to think how they had the rest of their prime years basically stolen from them though. :/

Keith could have brought out Kut Klose and Bobby could have brought out Heart & Soul for that verses

Been waiting for this video for years… but it took for them to come out and speak about it for anyone to even have any content or any insight on what’s going on. I love this group so much. One of my top favs and I cannot WAIT for their 2nd album. I’m a huge fan and I miss them. Thanks for this !

They say can’t get much for Black women, only Black men, on GoFundMe. Too bad, they couldn’t go to some industry true blues. Surely, they made a friend or two. .

Great video RRG 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. This is why people rather go solo and release music on KZbin and other social media platforms instead of signing a contract with a record label. Maybe sign up with a management/publishing company once you start getting off, but your career is based upon how much you work and promote yourself. That’s my suggestion for anyone who’s looking to get into the music industry, hell look at Erica Banks career. She started off on KZbin and now she’s growing including Meg The Stallion until she made a mistake and signed up with a local Houston based label. Good job once again RRG

My god 😞 the Cemetary’s full of artists from the past and present who’ve been robbed by these wicked people in the industry. Seems like nothing changed and it’s an absolute disgrace. I’m definitely surprised 😳 RRG, not my Keith 🤦🏾♀️

Real talk, i still listen to this album 😩😩😩 It’s eff’d up when you have someone so on-trend behind you and “believe” in you- only to mess up your upward trajectory.

I still to this day have this cd. I Like, Keep On and Surrender is my jam!! Omg! You took me back! I’m not surprised how they were treated. The industry is dirty. Please do a story on Sunshine Anderson and Bilal. ✨💕✨

Sold their publishing off for $1! That is so sad. It’s a very cutthroat business. These people really like to take advantage of the naïve and vulnerable who do not understand, through no fault of their own, the terms and conditions.

I have their Surrender cd. I would put their talent on par with SWV and TLC. I Like is one of my favorite ballads of all time. The vocals in the 1st verse could melt butter. The lead changes from Lavonn in the beginning to Athena at the 2nd verse but it is difficult to hear the change. For that reason I don’t think Athena was favored because her vocals stood out. There must have been some other reason. In any case it’s a shame they didn’t get to continue. They had great vocal harmony and the sound was polished. Also the cd leaflet is well done which makes it even harder to believe a record company let them slip through the cracks. They each gave thanks to god, their families, extended families, and all that helped them. Then finally they give thanks as a group. Kut Klose was a great group name. Reading through all of it, I get a sense that even as young ones they were well-grounded with good hearts. Also, Keith Sweat did not write all the songs on their cd. He co-wrote a few, they co-wrote a few, and others were written by other writers. Keith is listed as the executive producer of the cd.

They deserve their money, I really liked their sound, beautiful voices, my favorite song is if you really want it ,all you got to do is get upon it. 💖

Very talented group of ladies. I hate how they got screwed over. Keith Sweat could’ve brought them onto Versus for a couple songs. “Lay My Body Down” and “Don’t Change” are also very dope songs off that same album. Here’s hoping they get another fair shot!

I love that Surrender album. It still goes off 🔥 Every time I hear about these crazy contract deals it just blows my mind how devious the industry is. And these young artists be jumping head first in the shallow end just hoping for a chance at fame 🤕

I still be bumping Kut Klose! K.SWEAT, know he wasn't supposed to play the game like that!💥 That recording industry is a DIRTY GAME, if you don't know the business side of it!
@Niccole-oq8wo Жыл бұрын
The industry is brutal! However, the type of disdain Keith is showing seems too personal. He gave one girl all the attention all while throwing serious shade at the other members...hmmm 🤔. Now, he wants no parts of any of them and refuses to speak about the entire group. Seems like a personal relationship went bad. Perhaps that is the root of why things happened the way they did. Mixing business with pleasure can turn into a bad deal. Also, when artists sign up under another celebrity, it never really ends well for the underling.
