I hadn’t seen the live version before. Thanks! I remember hearing this on the radio when he first released it, and hearing that it was written by a female songwriter and it was being shopped around to female singers when Keith heard it. I think the introspective way he sings this is quite powerful and it’s an important message to be conveyed.

He was one of the top session guitarist in LA before his solo career. Technically, he is as good as it gets.

Brad Paisley is very good as well. Watch them in Start a Band. Keith has the heart of a rock star. He plays 8 instruments at least. For guitar, he can just listen and play it. He had to learn a song on the fly the night Rhianna was abused before an award show. They asked him can you play? He listened on his way to the stage and jumped in. Search for his solos. He is smoking hot when he shreds. He was very upset about Eddie Van Halen who he never met. Catch his Twitter tribute. ❤ And when I say hot...I mean his playing!

Yes, Keith Urban plays amazingly well! I’ve always loved him…. But, Vince Gill has MANY times been called a musician’s guitar player by other musicians…even though he humbly denies it, saying he is just a singer. When Vince does guitar solos it’s as if the guitar is speaking! Check out his tribute at George Jones funeral…with Patty Loveless…he cannot carry on singing…BUT that guitar just SPEAKS!

Vince Gill is probably the best guitar player in C music, but Urban is right there.. Urban's style reminds me a lot of Neil Schon from Journey... they way they make the guitar cry, it's almost backup vocals it's so heart felt and pure, it's carries the melody

I think of the guys who actually show their skill, Brad Paisley is the best when it comes to technique. That said, I’d rather listen to a Kieth Urban solo anytime. Paisley can shred big time, but most studio guitarists probably have more technical skill than him.
